Re: Option to remove "clear" next to forum name in Fav Forums I see that link (clear) has been removed from lines pointing to forums. To perform 'clear' action one has to click on envelop of the topmost thread on the left side. It's even better solution because I always had a fear that unwinding back browser's stack (pressing 'Back' button e.g.) will perform unsolicited cleaning action for forum.
If link on that envelop image means that all posts in this particular forum with timestamp that is earlier then this post will be 'cleared' - it is certainly safer.
Now the problem may be only in proper implementation of that rule.
Here is the case when clicking on topmost envelop will not clear all posts (as one may expect).

It's because the timestamp of topmost post in not in proper order with others... It may create unexpected results, until one gets used to it.
I may propose the way to improve interface a bit more and get rid of blue arrows on the right side (artificially placed next to timestamps). How to do it? It's based on simple logic that if one want to 'clear' posts dated from particular timestamp - why do not use those timestamps that we see on the right side anyway. Thus:
1) let's make timestamps as links performing logic "Ignore from here back" (which is more natural to timestamps then to envelopes)
2) let's use envelopes on the left side as links to posts: if you click on red envelop - you go to the beginning of the new thread; if you click on yellow envelop - you go to the first unread post in this thread.
As you can see there is no need for blue arrow links. Page becomes simpler and a bit more logical. -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |
