2 edits | Can I Downgrade Online: Pro -> Express? Can I do this online or must I call someone?
Until mid-July I have Pro (3 Mbps) at $17.99 per month. When that deal expires I want to downgrade to Express (1.5 Mbps) at $19.99.
I'd like to get a new 4100 modem, too, with the $49.95 rebate deal and $12.95 shipping, and a year commitment is no problem if that does me any good.
They sent me a flier to get a $30 credit if I upgrade to Elite. But after that credit it still costs me $96.72 a year more than what I am now paying. Downgrading to Express will only cost me about $30 a year more than what I am now paying.

I suspect it is so they can attempt some sort of save effort.
Call them and start the conversation: "...I tried to use the web ordering tool but I couldn't get it to lower my service from Pro to Express. Did I miss something?"
Might make an interesting follow-up. |

 | I'd be curious to see the outcome of this. I'm thinking of trying this as well. Finances are getting tight in the household and we need to cut corners somewhere. |

Nope...you have to call in to do that... And you cant get a new modem with a rebate for downgrading, only if you were to upgrade, and then you could only choose the 2wire. -- If it doesnt fit FORCE IT! If it breaks then it needed to be replaced anyways. |

My son and daughter-in-law were on Express @ $19.99/mo and were at EOT and they just downgraded to Basic @ 14.99 via the 1-877-722-3755. No term commitment, no new modem was requested nor was one offered and no hard sell or push-back of any kind by ATT. This was just a cost savings measure on the kid's part. Being they are only casual DSL users I foresee no noticeable impact in the slower max speed. |
