52 dollars for basic standard struck me too. thats why i upgraded to the triple play with all premiums included for 129 a month. thats phone, internet 6/750 and basic, standard,digital plus, hbo, starz, showtime, cinemax, encore, tmc. much better then any dish deals i could have got. did i mention its from the same company that wanted to charge me 52 for basic standard. the difference is a contract. but dish would have had that also. also thats for three tvs as i also get 2 free digital boxes for a year. add in the vod content and its a no brainer. the days of me paying 80 dollars a month for tv is over. and im glad for that. current break down is phone=33 internet=33 basic standard=33 digital plus with all premiums=30. basically instead of 52 dollars for basic standard i get all the channels for 63. where i pay 11 over the cost of basic standard i can deduct 9 of that off on what i save on the internet. so it really comes out to for 2 dollars more i get them all. |

Triple play is for NEW customers. I already have all 3 things and don't get any discount at all. It is over $100 every month. I think it is somewhere near $150.

Dish doesn't require contracts. If you want $50 credited to your first bill and a free warranty for 18 months you sign a contract. |

| So it is basically a $50 sign-up fee that the offer instead of requiring a commitment. Same difference, really, in the long-run. Think of it as a commitment with a $50 early termination fee, that everyone pays even if you fulfill the commitment!  |

nope, triple play isnt always for new customers. ive been a customer for over 10 years and received it. it just required me to sign a two year contract instead of a one year contract. i would have happily signed a 5 year contract at that rate. there was lengthy posts here about a month ago and lots of people called and jumped on the triple play that was already subscribing subs. most had trouble actually getting cinemax thrown in on the 129 deal tho. |

Wow! It went from Can I buy a few extra channels to Dish is better than comcast, rain / snow fade, HD Lite, to Dish and contracts to here's a referral code so you get some sort of credit and he gets the avoid the $50.
And to the OP... What ever service is going give you the channels you want, at a price that gives you value in the area you feel fits your needs is going to do the best for you in the long run including contracts and terms.
Personally, this is a question and decision usually best left to the one you're married/sleeping with and sharing financials.. because no one here, and their set up, is going to be there for you when/if the hammer falls later.
Compare all options and channels, consider entry into your dwelling, do the math, look at your budget, make decision.

| I was just answering questions and no, I wasn't trying to get a $5 credit on my bill. I was just explaining that the ClubDish program allows someone to avoid that pesky $50 activation fee. Dish Network rarely gives out the $5 credit anyways. I wasn't the one that first brought up Dish Network, I was just sharing my story. I don't think Dish Network is any better than Comcast. I say that they're pretty much about the same here. The only difference is price and Dish Network's DVR is better. That's about it.
I agree with you... the OP needs to decide what's best for them. I wasn't trying to force Dish Network on anyone. I was just sharing my success story because they inquired on Dish Network. And the whole ClubDish thing more so benefits the new customer. I used it as well and was glad to save $50. |
