Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Cool thanks for the login however that login only allows you limited none administrative access which would not allow me to configure a new SIP address and configuration.

Thank you again however,

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Yea I have already read that and tried it , thats how I know for certain that the firmware has changed the supervisor password. That information does however work on lingos old firmware devices.

Thanks

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

I've been away, so I missed this thread. If you allow your adapter to access the internet, it will auto-configure with a unique supervisor password, even if you are no longer a subscriber (unless you disable the auto-configuration feature). Firmware version 63b does have a default password, but it will work only if you perform a hard reset, and then prevent the adapter from accessing the internet. Check your IM.

i had posted the same question a while ago, but didn't get any answer.

i have tried doing a hard reset without the system being connected to internet, but the passwords listed on the sites don't work anymore for supervisor account for the latest firmware.

caseydoug - if you happen to know the new pass, mind sharing?

much appreciated

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Does anyone know where firmware can be downloaded? Is there a difference between "lingo" and "unlocked" (if it exists)?

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Lingo's firmware used to be available at 209.227.167.160. I haven't checked for a while.

Lingo doesn't really have an "unlocked" firmware version. Each version of the firmware has certain default settings built in, including a default supervisor password and a default location for its configuration files. As soon as new firmware is loaded, the adapter goes back to the internet to find and load the specified configuration files. Those files, in turn, proceed to overwrite the default password with a device-specific password and also to write all of your account information (SIP username, SIP password, SIP server addresses, etc.)

That is why knowing the default supervisor password will not by itself gain you access to your Lingo information. The default supervisor password will not even get you into the supervisor pages unless you perform a factory reset while disconnected from the internet -- i.e., wipe out the information that was loaded by the configuration files. So it really doesn't help you to know the default password unless you are terminating your Lingo service and want to use the adapter with a different provider.

Depends on the firmware version. Login and check. Keep it off the internet if it has not been used for a while.

I did a factory reset on mine and used this:

UN: supervisor
PW: $KunK$pit (factory reset)

To do a factory reset, pick up the phone and dial:

For V2.8.2.63b firmware ONLY, other units have been unlocked and are easy

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR UNIT. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

DO NOT CONNECT THIS UNIT TO THE INTERNET

Try the files at this Page. Obviously the username and passwords will not work.

This is the same unit with a different name.

You should be able to sniff the ethernet packets to see if it attempts a firmware download (Via WAN PORT). If it does, try feeding it this file instead of the "real" file whether that be via TFTP or HTTP. This should be easy if it is looking for that file at a DNS name, and not an IP. A little more difficult if it is looking for an IP, but not impossible.

After feeding the unit the file, try a factory reset.

which may be as posted earlier here *#456987# or *#26845#

REMOVE ANY PROVISIONING RULES before connecting to the internet

IF YOU HAVE ANY SUCCESS OR FAILURE WITH THIS, POST YOUR RESULTS HERE FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS!

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Those are instructions for upgrading the bootloader, which is not necessary. Also, following these instructions requires knowing the password, which is what people are trying to find out in the first place.

Caseydoug.

If you download the file there you will find the full firmware, of course you must LOOK in order to SEE it. Just as you should have read my previous post to have understood it. I did say

"Try the files at this Page. Obviously the username and passwords will not work."

Also note that most of the locked devices that I have seen attempt to automatically download a newer firmware version (you may need to reset to force this to happen, but try first without resetting). So my suggestion is simply offering this firmware when the IAN-02ex asks for it, and resetting again afterwards, IF it takes the upgrade.

It may not give you the current password, but you MIGHT be able to use this information to make your box unlocked (and subsequently most probably unusable on Lingo)

Mark

PS I am no new kid on the block, I have unlocked MANY devices. On some , I have used exactly this same technique with much success.

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

markosjal,

I read your post, and I looked at the referenced files (in fact, I already had them). But the files included OLDER firmware versions than the 63b version that most iAN-02EX Lingo adapters currently have. A configuration file in the Lingo adapter tells it which firmware version to download, and it downloads that version only if it is not already loaded. It is highly unlikely that anyone reading this will have a configuration file that's looking for the specific firmware versions included in your post: Azatel versions 1.4 or 1.5, which haven't been used for years.

The other files included in your post were boot code files. I don't think people should try to load the boot code unless they know what they are doing.

If anyone want's to unlock their UTStarcom iAN-02EX or Azacall 200 adapter to use with a provider other than Lingo, just IM me.

Caseydoug,

I know you have been around the unlocking world for a while, however I want to point out the following:

I did say you can TRY. At no point did I say it would WORK. Actually I have a UTSTarComn with this firmware revision. When I get a couple of more boxes than the UTStarcom , DPPhone, and The RT31P2 that I have now I will set up a test bed to attempt to unlock them all and expect a success rate of about 60 - 70 percent. With the exception of Linksys - sipuras even feeding OLDER firmware sometimes unlocks them!

The AzaTel Firmware and UTStarCom Firmware do not have the same revision numbers. In fact, I believe the 1.5.2 Azatel corresponded with the Lingo UTStarcom 2.5.2.x. AT least in this example, it is easy to see the relationship of the revisions.

As for the boot code, I never recommended that upgrade as the Lingo UTStarCom boot code revision seems to correspond to the latest Azatel boot code (Excluding RC revisions). Although , the thought has crossed my mind that it may be that there is some customization in the boot code.

Please do not read words into my posts that I have not stated.

Have you TRIED what I have suggested? Until you have tried you can not truly say, but only try to appear more authoritative and discredit me (for some unknown reason). Do you get a sense of power by discrediting others?

Re: iAN-02EX Lingo Adapter Assistance Please.

Lighten up, Mark. I simply said I didn't think your method would work, and I gave my reasons. Your instructions said to feed the adapter "this file." There were three firmware files and two boot code files in that link, and you never said which one to use. You also never explained how to "feed" a file to the adapter. The fact is, as I said above, the adapter will load only the firmware version specified in its configuration file, and then only if the configuration file specifies a version different from the one already loaded. Nobody reading this will have a UTStarcom adapter with a configuration file that specifies an Azatel firmware version from 2004. If they did, they would be able to unlock their box by using one of those old passwords, without ever installing the firmware.

I'm not saying this to discredit you, but to explain how the provisioning process works. I don't have to try your method to know that it's not consistent with that process.

As an aside, there have been at least a half dozen Azatel firmware versions since the ones included in that link. The version I'm running now is 2.8.2.51b, but I haven't allowed it to upgrade for over a year.

Yes I did say "FEED" the file, in other words whether the device is looking for TFTP or HTTP download is for the user to determine. I know you are smart and have been around the block a few times, and know what ethereal or Wireshark is, and how to use them to see if the Lingo box is looking for TFTP or HTTP.

I was not clear that one would need to open the ZIP archive and extract the correct file, but I think even a newbie would figure that part out.

Yes you need to open the file and I recommend you READ everything on that page and in the archive. Not because it is directly applicable , but if one wants to attempt to unlock their box, they will need to educate themselves at least a little. The knowledge that one may get from the archived file or the referenced page may be enough to make the difference between success or failure.

I am only making a suggestion here, so post the results. I do not have the time at the moment or would figure out the whole process. I would give it a 60% to 70% possibility of working, pretty much as I posted it, although clearly, I did not post all the details.

I forgot to mention. I am familiar with the provisioning process.

Furthermore, technically, a firmware upgrade is really not provisioning as you seem to imply.

Process of firmware upgrade: An HTTP or FTP download is attempted. at boot up. Depending on the device the device may be looking for specific information in the file that complies with the existing firmware's expectation of the "Newer Firmware" or sometimes this is managed ENTIRELY by file name, or not at all just by a file path. The latter options allow easier firmware downgrades. A firmware upgrade rarely employs encryption such as MD5

That is the process in a nutshell. If you do not like the way I explained it, just lay off me man!
