Yeah, I tried all the eright servers and they're all slow...

[EDIT] Is it just me or is it a major PITA to find the links to download this? I tried to post a link to the downloads page but it brings you to the main page again.

Definitely not just you:

"To download from this site without looping back to the same page you need to:
Enable your JavaScript, clear your MSIE cache, do not block your http_referrer (with ZoneAlarm or similar), do not use a proxy.
Queries concerning this issue will not be answered. We do not know any other answer to give."

...and the download is PAINFULLY slow! Oh well.

EDIT: »SUPER-New version-javascript required to download?

Yep, slow as molasses here too. Finally got it.

That has got to be one of the worst sites I've ever seen. It sure doesn't do much to reflect what a great app SUPER is.

Even with FlashGet and all 10 threads going, the fastest mine is going is 125Kb/s. Took 30mins to dl.

P.S. Thanx Howie for the heads up.

Thanks Howie!

I picked it up from majorgeeks quick as a snap:

»majorgeeks.com/Super_d5117.html

Ya gotta love SUPER.
Except I have to change practically every security setting on my machine to get it to install fully and properly-- an issue unique to this software, btw.
But I've got it installed and there seem to be no issues. Did a test conversion-- smooth as ever.
Also, once installed, this app can be blocked at the firewall and it still works just fine-- it will take seemingly forever to load under that circumstance, however. Just an FYI for anyone interested.
It also requires Admin. privileges (XP) to run.

I installed it. Just feel that there aren't enough controllable settings, like file assoication. I'm interested in the player. Can't FF or REW except through the keyboard.

When exiting full screen the player closes rather than going to a smaller screen. Even when the smaller screen is running, it's not adjustable.

Don't know if these are bugs, or if something didn't get installed properly.

Here's what I know about it--
I don't think the player's worth 2 cents, actually. Isn't there a notice right on it that says it may not work properly?
I don't even try to use it. As I recall, the one or two times I did, it wouldn't work, or at least work properly.

Microsoft Help Service needs to be enabled when installing, no doubt along with ActiveX allowed on the machine-- I just enable all the stuff I normally keep shut down until I finish installing it.
Then I bring it up and navigate around a bit. Then close it out, block it at the firewall, and disable all that other stuff I just enabled to install it.
Blocking it at the firewall causes it to take forever to load. Beyond that, no ill effects.
This is my experience. YMMV.

*Edit-
As far as the interface goes, there are not a massive amount of choices. It's a relatively simple & straightforward app. Right-clicking within the program's screen will get you the menu choices and options.
It will convert into a variety of formats, with a fair amount of options, though.
I like it.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll fiddle with it. I was hoping the player would open, and play, anything without the need of any other player. Apparently, it does.

Not into conversions right now, but it sure will come in handy.

It's not marketed as a player, it's marketed as a movie converter. If you can get the player to do what you want, great.
If not, I'd recommend the KMPlayer. It'll play a lot of stuff. Or GOM Player, or VLC.
All available at majorgeeks, and other fine software sites everywhere.

I've found that KMPlayer is the best for poor quality audio files.I don't know the reason but it plays the audio portion of poorly ripped videolouder than any other player I've tried, which is at least 90% of the windows platform players.

I have nothing but good things to say about it. I haven't been using it long, but there's nothing I don't like about it so far. It even played an .mpg or .avi that MPC couldn't handle, which told me some pins were corrupted & couldn't be rendered. A fine player.
