Yup thats all normal. Welcome to the world of 4:3 content on a 16:9 display
My TV switches from 4:3 to 16:9 and vice versa when it needs to, so I don't have to worry about anything. It just shows black bars on the sides.
My Moto Box does this for me.

The setting is right in the internal menus of the box. I forget what it is called right now. If i switch from a High def channel to a SD channel, the picture flickers and all is well.

Oh yeah, the 4:3 Override right?

Either way the box only generates graphics in 4:3. So if you push info its centered in the middle of the 16:9 display on an HD channel.

Yes thats true. I find it gives a great balance of picture quality though.

I would have thought they would make the guide in 16:9 for those with widescreen tv's.
