1 edit | [northeast] New Install
I've just had an installed completed tonight and it's looking good. Speed tests have varied from about 1.5/1.5 up to (it's a 5/2 install):

The installer was great and spent time doing a nice clean install. I had a basement panel setup for the ONT, BBU, and router, and he set them all up there. He used an inside mount ONT, which he had with him. It has a mounting panel to wrap the fiber cable behind the ONT, then the BBU housing snaps on above it to make a nice single unit. Has anyone posted pictures of these yet? I can put a couple up.
The Actiontex is the new smaller case style with MoCA COAX connector. The install is COAX to the ONT. |

They are going to have to replace it when they upgrade to GPON anyway... |

Newer smaller cased router?
The ONT is the 612 with the indoor mounting panels, so as I said, has anyone posted pictures of the smaller mounting yet? Here are some of mine.
The battery mounting case has a small jack on the left side labeled "Auxiliary Power Supply DC 12V". |

The ONT is the same. The housing (slack box) is smaller. The BBU/PS combo comes pre-wired with connectorized power/alarm wire, that plugs in to the ONT. This saves time and makes a more reliable connection. Also, no external ground needed, just plug the combo pack in to a three-prong outlet. edit: The pictures indicate that an external ground is connected. There is an internal (green) ground wire, that can be connected to the ONT to transfer the ground from the combo-pack. |

This model ONT is called the "JI-ONT" (Just Inside Optical Network Terminal). |
