 | Nothing but a trojan A program that claims to be one thing and instead scans your HDD and phones home with what it finds is, by definition, a trojan. I'd love to see the EULA. Probably has wording buried in it explaining what it does. A good lawyer could still win against them though.
I bet the site was shut down because once word got out they realized they were facing legal action for what they were doing.
I bet lamers would fall for this. Not sure how many of these types would actually have learned to use torrents though. Anything that wants me to install a special player immediately gets dumped. I even balk at sites like adultswim.com when they want to install a flash, wmp or quicktime update. Fortunately, I have some old 20 gig drives lying around and base xp images for several of my machines, so if I REALLY want to watch it, I can run it on a disposable image (as I suspect this type of content wouldn't work on a VM).
Besides, I suspect the SP2 firewall would warn when the program wanted Internet access. I'd kill it at that point. |
