| Don't I remember them doing cool things with some cell tower I swear I remember a computer magizine's article years ago about people complaining in some places and countries about cell towers, so they started making the towers look like other things, like giant trees and such. Well, yeah, you could paint them to make them look fun/cool/amuzing, but better yet, make them actually look like something they are not, have a variety of cabinets made with sturdy plastic shrouds that look like things, like that amuzing turtle the guy above posted. Plastic is cheap, sturdy, and can be made to look like just about anything.
Another idea: A relative of mine has a cell tower on his property, I don't know the full story, but it was put there willingly as per him. Why? They PAY HIM for it to be there. Why not pass laws that force these companies to give some small compensation for placing equipment on or near people's property. Seems perfectly reasonable to ME. Heck, if I owned a home I'd INVITE them to put one on my property even if all I got was a discount, so long as it was a big one, for service. Free would be better. It could be in the interest of the companies as well! Why? Because if someone was near the thing jacking with it, or the homeowner saw something bad happening to it or potentially so, they would want to protect it and would quickly call in about it!
Ah, common sense is a beautiful thing.
