Re: [Lens] DIY tilt/shift - take 2

Can you post a profile picture of the completed and assembled setup?

By the way, that is right up my alley. I have a Prinzflex 28mm f2.8 that might work for this.

I'll post a complete pic when I get home.

Your 28mm likely won't do a satisfying job since it's built for a 35mm camera...

1) the image circle is not large enough. Medium format is good since there's a ton of coverage allowing lots of tilt and shift room.

2) Many (all?) MF systems also have about 2x the registration distance which gives room for stuff (mount adapters, tube material/fabric) while still allowing for infinity focus.

A large format lens might be even better but it's tough to find a cheap one at a focal length I'd like... a normal lens for large format is pretty long when used with 35mm systems. I'd prefer 40-50mm but that's wide for medium format and super-wide for large format... IOW, expensive. Spending more than $50 is expensive (to me) since Lensbabies aren't much more than that (even though they don't really shift much... mostly tilt).

Here's the lens mounted...

Canon PowerShot A400
5.9mm 1/60th F3.8

I did some more shots with it today... exceedingly difficult with moving subjects at close range! Eg:

PENTAX *ist DS
0mm 1/160th F0 ISO400

That's REALLY cool! I tried that the 'ghetto' way, by just detaching the lens and moving/shifting it around.
