Those with time might jot down any sponsors who use the popups and write them to say they won't use or recommend the product as long as they continue to irritate. Ultimately when fewer people watch TBS, soemthing will change.

Turner hasn't released many details here other than it will include a vast selection of programming from the Time Warner library. It will also include Warner movies and Braves games broadcasted in HD. How long do you think that's going to last? It started with logos in the bottom corner, morphed through static banners to animated banners, then animated banners with visual effects, then sound effects and now they're experimenting with pausing the show to push more commercials during the supposedly commercial-free part of the programming.

Depending on the response they get, you might start seeing them all throughout the broadcast soon.

It's incredibly naive to say "well, they're just at the end so it's no big deal", because it IS a big deal. It's a chance to make more money, and you should know that they will explore every available avenue until they start getting enough complaints and losing enough viewers to finally show some restraint.

Fox's airing of F1 racing had ads for their upcoming coverage of the return of Baseball literally taking up 2/3 of the screen. They covered up a couple of passes, tight corners, and at one point they covered up the current stats with other text for their shows. The result there was you couldn't read either of them.

I personally didn't own a DVR until a couple years back when the stations got to the point of showing the exact same commercials every single break and sometimes twice during the same break. Isn't brain washing illegal? Make no mistake that's a form of it.

So since they've started doing the sound and more than half the screen crap, I've started removing those stations from my favorites. It's a sad thing really. I don't watch some of my favorite shows any more because of it. I guess in a way it's a blessing. I rent the full season on DVD a year or so later and get to watch it back to back instead.

What's sad is even the premium channels are starting to do it. I've already canceled my subscription to the Starz super pack (DirecTV) because of it and I'm about to cancel Showtime. Hell, even HBO has started advertising their other shows over the credits. All that's a no-no to me. I'll rent DVDs before I'll pay for that drivel!

In the end, I have to say I don't really mind commercials so much it's the frequency and type of them that get me and I simply don't take it. I move on if they push me too far and everyone else should do the same thing. That's the only way they'll learn. It isn't a "protest" thing - it's simply that my nerves can't take it. The last time was trying to watch a movie they were running, and it just wasn't possible. By the time 10 minutes of commercials were done you'd lost interest. CNN -- another Turner station -- probably isn't as bad but still annoying. Of course PVR's make it a little bit easier but that takes planning, and the interruptions are still annoying.

Come to think of it I don't watch a lot of normal commercial channels much at all, especially since I switched over to HD -- mostly Discovery, PBS, National Geographic, and sometimes CBC.

Was watching a re-run of Everyone Loves Raymond on TBS today... because here was nothing else on and I needed background noise.

As many know, TV stations are starting to put "Advertisements" at the bottoms of the shows, to advertise products or other items. TBS has been one of the worse with added sound to the ads, or taking up 2/3 of the screen.

I was angry with them... but... they have gone to far.

TODAY... they started doing a "fly by" Ad at the bottom when the Actor for the show walked in with it.. hit a spot on the screen and the show "Paused" mid-joke.

(Halloween episode right where Raymond finds out his condom is a piece of chocolate).

THEY PAUSED THE SHOW AT THE PUNCHLINE. Advertised their crap-ass made for the station show... then "Went back to the show" for another 10 seconds so the Joke could finish before going to regular commercials.

Oh I am so pissed.

...... will I stop watching TBS... I'll try.
