Yay ads!

As someone else so nicely quoted:

"Once embedded, the Sprint logo will be attached to the files forever ..snip..."

Oh really? AFAIK, MP3 Standard, AAC and FLAC do not define a mechanism for "attaching" a logo "permanently" to any of MY music files.

What...are they going to use their logo as the album art, and then put
NOTE: Once downloaded, please right click, go to properties, check read only - and enjoy the advertising!
No...they will want to make sure that they shove it down our your throats (wont ever hit my machines!).

Can WMA w/ DRM accomplish this? Possibly via the "plugins"...like a popup system? Maybe they will take a queue from sony and put a rootkit in your machine which is always scanning for the "free track" and when it finds it - BAM - your desktop background is now an advertisement!

Hahaha...more than likely it's going to be some EXE wrapped around a MP3...and the first time someone complains it won't play on an iPod, tech support will say "ok...on the iPod...click start > run > and we are going to browse for the mp3".

Another one of these useless programs to "give the consumer the shaft more!" is a complete an utter waste of time.....usually due to the fact of the technology incompetence of the execs who come up with this idea. You just KNOW that the IT department didn't hear about the aforementioned quote...and is reading all about it in the paper this morning. Soon to go to the boss and go "well...you didn't mention the part about an ad ALWAYS being displayed".

EDIT: Hey...this company can do it...lets go for it!

Justin: setup some of those xxx sites that pay you X cents a click, and I'll put "goto dslreports.com/fuckthisidea and signup for our FREE service to get the password to this zip file containing new tracks!". All in exchange for 30% of the revenue! Oh wait....people already do this, the site either nukes it, or comments are "password s*it! Don't download". Oh I should just send sprint a couple hundred links to these torrents with passwords. Same concept...same hatred...
