Re: [App Update] Zone Alarm - Release Date 07/03/2007 Still using ZA Pro 5.5.094.000 and just recently let my ZA license expire. Been using ZA since 2.0. Like many others the first release of ZA 5.x hosed my system. Since then never installed any updates without waiting several days and checked the posts at the ZA User Forums' Installation, Uninstall and Upgrade board.
Have no interest in the ZA Pro 6.x/7.x versions not only because of all the reported problems by users, but because of all the non-firewall features/bloat (Anti-Spyware, etc.) added to ZA Pro.
Also have no interest in ZA ISS because I do not care for security suites; plus older versions using CA VET AV.
ZA updates have succumb to playing Russian Roulette. One installs the update in the hope that it will not screw up your system. If update does screw up your system and/or are confronted with a bug, you then need the special clean uninstall instructions (just one of several Guru posts) so you can hopefully get rid of all the traces of ZA from your system.
Have you seen the ZA User Forums' INSTRUCTIONS WHEN INSTALLING ZONE ALARM FOR THE FIRST TIME? Sorry, but that's ridiculous to expect users to follow all those steps to install an new app.
Hence, I have finally given up all hope for ZA. Now looking to switching to Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall or Comodo Pro 2.4.
IMHO for those who only want a good software firewall, the best software "firewall" product by ZoneLabs was ZA Plus. |

| Good day Jon,
Zone Labs and their non-existant support plus having certain Team-Z members blaming issues on the user instead of a shoddy program (ZA v6 series)turned me off enough to drop Zone Alarm for good.
I heard a lot of good things about Kerio Personal Firewall and support so I gave it a try.
Eight months later Kerio is still performing quite well and I plan on buying a new license in October. I think you would be happy with Kerio Personal Firewall if you do not go with Comodo.
Trend Micro IS is still on my wife's desktop and is a perfect set it and forget it program IMO.
