VoIP is the standard that is used by the cable comapanies as well as vonage ect.
I used sunrocket for all the jacks in my home as well. Why? I'd NEVER go for Comcast's phone- $33/mo for what I pay Vonage $17/mo for as we don't use the home phone all that much. In fact I'm thinking of going cell-only soon.

Most of them offer unlimited service too. Not to mention that many people don't even HAVE home telephone service any more-they just use their cell phones at home.

The phone companies are even feeling the pinch, which is why they're all trying to offer TV and Internet.
