How to be on sprint/nextel without being terminated

Get Boost. Boost is Sprint/Nextel's prepaid/"disposable" cell phone service. No contract, hence no termination.

The very best way to do this is to find a store which sells Boost phones and is going out of business/moving locations, or in some other way needs to clear out their stock.

I did this by finding a Target store which was moving from its old location to a new building (and becoming a "Super Target"). They put their Boost phones on "clearance," and thus I was able to buy several of them for $10 apiece rather than the regular $30. Plus, the units I purchased came with a $10 time credit, so deducting that, I paid NOTHING for the phone.

If you can get such a deal, buy a few, because the batteries cost $40 a piece - making it worth your while to lay in a few phones, just to have the battery that comes with the phone for $10, plus a spare SIM card that costs $20 a piece, again, thrown in for the $10 (cheap!) phone.

Figure in what it costs to get a spare wall phone adapter, and it's $50-$60 worth of spares for $10 (when you think about it, paying full price for one of the $30 phones, just to have the spare parts, is also a good deal).

Getting back to the advantages of pay-as-you-go Boost versus Sprint/Nextel, (a) there's no contract with all the fun that implies (b) if all you want is mobile phone service and you're not that heavy a user, you can get by as cheaply as $20 every three months (which is how long time from those prepaid cards lasts - or any prepaid minutes in Boost, for that matter).

The more time you buy at any given time, the lower the cost per minute. And Boost phones have built-in GPS chips, you can buy navigation service with a low daily charge, so it's as though you can turn your Boost phone into "Garmin for a day" - and asking the phone to tell you exactly where you are by GPS is free - and there are all sorts of other GPS-sensitive services like Boost Loopt (which basically allows groups of Boost users to keep each other posted on their exact whereabouts) AND Boost also has an optional push-to-talk walkie-talkie service for a nominal daily charge.

All of the fun of getting the goodies with Sprint/Nextel, but with low daily charges and NOOOOO Contracts!
