There's Pidgin (»pidgin.im/pidgin/home/), which used to be Gaim. (May already know about it) I'm not too sure offhand if they've added more features or what, but you could check and see if it suits your needs.

The overall look, want it too look like Adium from Mac OS X in one way or another.
Or at least a system tray that shows my buddy list once I click on it, but integrated into the system tray, not a separate window.

I use Bitlbee because I perfer an IRC format, it's really great and lightweight. Kind of an IRC wrapper for other IM protocols. |
