 | [ Express] Disconnection problem Hello, first time poster here :].
Whenever I'm playing a game or streaming videos from youtube/google, the game would get disconnected if I afk for few minutes and the streaming videos would stop streaming. I have no idea what the problem is, but I'm pretty sure it is not my router DI 524 because I connected my pc directly to the modem, and the problems would still occur.
Thanks in advance.
BTW, I'm pretty sure my connection is Express, but it might be Extreme... |

 | Hi, I forgot to mention, but it would disconnect me from games when I'm not afk too |

 | have you checked your Modem log? if you have a SB5100 its: 192.168.100.1 should give you a little more info that might help us out. |

 | Sorry, I should've posted more infos
The modem I have is DPC 2100 of Scientific Atlanta.
Also, the internet cable from the basement is splits into one for the phone modem and one for the internet modem.

the game would get disconnected if I afk for few minutes and the streaming videos would stop streaming. Is the PC set to go into suspend/sleep mode after a certain amount of idle time? Also in the properties of your network card, check the power management tab and make sure there is no check mark where it says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. -- P4 2.8 800 fsb, Asus P4P800 w/1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, 256 MB GeForce 5600, SB Audigy Gamer, DVD-Rom/CD-R Burner & LG Duel layer DVD Burner, 2x 120 GB Internal & 250 GB External hard drives |

 | reply to UGMachine I suggest you call Rogers up to check your connection strength but I'd hold out until someone here has a better suggestion.
I had a problem where I only had 5min connection and I had reboot the cable modem because after 5min, the page just keeps loading and never stop. I ended up with a 3 splitter (2tv, 1 internet) and paying an extra outlet
My guess is your signal is not strong enough... You might want to check router settings as well... |

 | reply to UGMachine Hey first timer I think there is a problem with Rogers as I am also having issuses with drops and slow downs. Maybe they did not pay thier bills LOL. I have not called cause I hate talkin to them. Just so you all know it would also drop packets when trying to ping google for gods sake. I wish I could get DSL. |

 | Thanks mordin, CrazyJo82 and royalscam21 for your suggestions. My pc doesn't have any suspend/mode that kicks in, so I guess calling Rogers would be what I should try. However, as you mentioned royalscam21, I hate talking to them too.. there tech support is horrid :/ Well, again, thanks for your helps guys. |
