Re: FiOS

Dude, fiber will always be required for the backbone of the internet, let alone for end users, Mostly because of its virtually endless bandwidth capacity and also nothing moves faster than light.

Yes, fibre for the backhaul but not for the casa. Too costly.

I have fiber to the casa. It's not AT&T or Verizon either.

Apparently even smaller companies (not driven by stock prices) realize it's the future.

but as the multimedia demands grow....fiber will be in the casa...because wireless will never be able to deliver the kind of bandwidth required without making males everywhere sterile. (hehe)

And that's a bad thing?

what exactly is a bad thing...

fios in casa is definitely a good thing...
but trying to pull 30-100 Mbits (per client) wirelessly will require so much energy to pose health problems??? NOT good at all

don't get me wrong but broadband through the cell towers such as EV DO and 3G are awesome, but that's only a max of 800Kbits (per client) ...and for cellular devices, that's adequate...but if you have a full computer and need those 30-100mbits, stick with fiber and/or Wi-fi (802.11g/n are short range that only put out about 30miliwatts to 2 watts)
