Ok class, let's discuss what we learned today.

1. SunRocket is indeed closing their doors. (Kudos to TMJ for stating it from the beginning)
2. Where is Lisa Hook, rumor has it that Captain Hook resigned last friday.... (Funny about that, I thought the captain stays with the ship.)
3. You need to start porting over your number ASAP. Stop questioning it and do it.
4. The call center ran by Bell Industries, has sent everyone home. So long farewell. SR just laid off 300+ employees in Springfield. (Does it give you the warm and fuzzies)
5. The "noodler" is probably gone also. Look for him to peak on in the next couple of days.
6. There are 3 people left, basically there to hold out until all of the legal issues have been rectified.
7. No one is coming to buy the Sub base (as of yet)
8. EX-SR employees feel shafted thanks to the workings of Captain Hook and all of her AOL washouts.

That's all I got. I am an ex-SR employee. Nobody is going to come on here and tell you exactly who they are, so stop asking for "proof".. Call the 800 number if you want proof. Better yet unplug your gizmo at midnight tonight, let me know if it comes back up.

TMJ has spoken the truth. SUNROCKET IS OVER. Couldn't have happened to a better CEO.

My condolensces to the people who did the work at SR for there hard work and effort has gone to the toilet because of one Captain Lisa Hook and her horde of AOL washouts.

Thanks Rocket_crash...It's good to hear someone from the company break it down. Little do people realize that before Lisa came into the SR workings, it was ACTUALLY FUN WORKING THERE!!! I knew bad things were comin when all these AOL execs started to come over... I should have jumped shipped before staying in and watching it sink. I feel for everyone (like me) who didn't even get severance!!! Shit, Lisa could've given "direct ordeR" run a 2 for 1 just for serverance...call it the "2,1,...Adios"...damn shame.

To all my SunRocket friends...we'll work together again soon..I'm sure of it!

But didn't you get to go to bar and have a drink on Lisa? That was more then enough severance in the eyes of the AOL crew.

HELL NO!!! That was a slap in the face...u sit there and tell us we're gone with no serverance, but expect us to go out to have drinks with you! LOL..I laughed..TOOK MY LAPTOP (lol...that's my severance..at least part of it) and called it a day

SR isn't the first and won't be the last to get raped by these type of thief's. in the 80/90's in the computer industry we had the exact same thing happen. I called it back then the pigeons ... they swoop in and bring in there friends, the eat everything and shit on whats left and as long as one of the flock can find a new nest, they are off to do it all over again and again and again ...

For SR customers, you have MANY options on what to do next. take a few minutes before rushing to sign-up on the next "best deal" or you going to be reliving this again in some months time.

POTS isn't as bad as everyone claims, they don't make you prepay and you don't have to have a degree in electronics to keep your phone working. The Cable CO's will come out to your home and install and service. If your bent on indie VOIP, there are many quality ( read more than 10 bucks a month ) carriers that don't have the same issues the SR just had.

I for one will be returning to POTS at the end of my current contract, the savings are not worth the hassles of a maybe phone. VOIP is the wild wild west of the 21st century!

You mean none of you took the opportunity to congratulate Lisa on her new record? She probably would not have the spine to say much. It took much longer to turn AOL Broadband into a back room stepchild that it did for her to tank SR.

The end is confirmed - I just got IM'd by a developer there, and they're turning out the lights!

That was basically what happend. They shut off the phones, we sat for 10 or 20 minutes and then were told to go to two seperate rooms where we were given a paper talking about our termination and given a brief summary of whats going on. I hope we atleast dont have to fight unemployment.

I think the members got the worst of it, because they closed the sales/new accts and said it was because of an "update", several of their employees quit/got laid of/got fired, and they said everything was going to be fine, SR will go on, just cost reductions. Yesterday the registration server went down, and they said it was just an outage, they could have at least been honest instead of out and out lying.

Sorry to hear about the loss of jobs. If the company is not going to provide any severance and it appears they really gave no notification of mass layof, you may want to check this link out:

can you tell me what is meant by "porting over your number" My college daughter is with out a phone and we just realized what happened with sunrocket. She has been with them for almost 2 years.
