I disputed the entire amount as SR is in breech of their contracts to provide me and my daughter with 1 year pre-paid VoIP service + 3 FREE months. I started with them back in Oct. 2006.
So somehow you are rationalizing you should not pay for the ~7 months of service? Please... give me some moral or even legal ground of your thought process here.. To ask for money back for services used, is just as bad as SR stiffing us. Don't justify bad behaviour siting other's bad behaviour

Mine was not over 6 months old. But you should ask for the dispute deparment. When I called and asked to dispute, they were very quick to offer to transfer me to the dispute department but not before, GET THIS...

CSR: "I'll be happy to transfer you to our dispute department, but before I do that, can I interest you in our ...."

ME: "No, I want to get this issue cleared up."

CSR: "I also notice that you are qualified for our low interest rate of ... Do you have any outstanding balance?"

ME: "No,...(sounding irritated)"

CSR: "Let me transfer you."

I've had this happen a couple of times already.

On an update with Citi Dividend Card:

I dont' think they are going to return our Sunrocket Disputed money. My charge from sunrocket is less than 4 month old. They told me that money will be posted on my A/C 24-48 hrs, but its been one week and I don't see the charge.

I called them up, and this time they transferred to disput dept. She said that they are not giving any credits. I told them about Chase and Discover, she said they have different rules the Chase, they know the problem with sunrocket, but they are not giving credits to anyone. We have to wait at least 90 days before they decide anything.
I will tell every Citi Dividend Card holder to call disput dept and put pressure on them.
First lesson: Don't prepaid for any service.
Second lesson: Don't use Citi Dividend Card.

I used the Citi Dividend card with SR and had no issues disputing the charge (mine was 5+ months in). As they stated, a credit showed in 3 business days...I also got an email saying thanks for giving us all the info. we need. So now, I guess they try to contact the merchant, but I consider it a done deal.

Good news! In addition to crediting my account within a day of my phone call, the Chase dispute dept sent me a letter within a week stating that, according to their research, the charge was incorrect or unauthorized. "Here's your money, enjoy." And this was on a debit card too.

Looks like I had success with Amex with a charge being outside the 60 (or 90) day window.

I called over the weekend and the CSR wouldn't budge as the charge was back in early February. He said it was outside of the 60 day window.

Yesterday, I submitted the request via email. I recieved a reply back saying they will investigate. This morning, there is "CREDIT PENDING INVESTIGATION OF DISPUTE" credit on my account. I'm assuming this will stick since they won't have much luck contacting SR.

What do you guys think?

Called Citibank Sunday afternoon and just saw this on my account online today:

Sale Date Post Date Description Amount
04/04/07 07/10 CREDIT-FINANCE CHARGES ON DISPUTED ITEM $7.43
04/04/07 07/10 CITIBANK CONDITIONAL CREDIT FOR DISPUTE $209.26
2 transactions. $216.69

So looks good so far. If they check the website or call they will obviously get no help.

I too got a conditional credit from citi. They said they will send the form that we have to fill out. But since it is taking too long,I printed the form from the statement page and mailed it now with some sunrocket emails. They stopped sending invoices and I can't find them on the web site. Let's hope we get our money back

Speaking of forms. Anyone got any dispute forms in the mail from citi yet? It's been over a week for me. This sucks! I m seriously debating switching cards after this fiasco.

How did you get your refund so fast? You didn't have to wait for paperwork? I called them twice already and they kept refering me to the dispute department which as other have also experienced is a stonewalling tactic. They kept telling me to wait for the forms in the mail.

My CC company credited my account for 6 mo. of service without question once they found the annual charge on my Jan. 07' statement.

Honestly there was really no secret to it. I just called Sunday afternoon and gave the lady my story. I told her I prepaid for a service and that the company went out of business and I would like a credit for the charges. I gave her the date of the initial transaction and the name of the company followed by "I'm sure you've received a ton of these calls already." I said that she could check the website which has a huge message stating that they were going out of business and if she called the telephone number it would say they were no longer taking calls, goodbye. I asked if she needed the phone number and she said no, the dispute department would do that research. She informed me I would get my conditional credit in a day or two and it would be looked into by the dispute department. I mean it does say conditional so I guess I'm not out of the woods yet but it at least looks promising. At least they didn't hit me with that 60 or 90 day nonsense. If I even get a pro rated credit I'm fine with that but at the moment looks like I may get the whole thing. Good luck to everyone.

Chase credited me the entire amount. I submitted my formal dispute the same afternoon the shutdown news broke. My third year was charged on May 1.

Citibank posted a general customer service alert for all customer service reps last Thursday or Friday. If they give you trouble direct them to the alert which gives them specific instructions on how to proceed. If you have any problems feel free to ask for a Supervisor and direct them to the same alert. They should be able to take care of you.

mixed response from AMEX- the item is under investigation.. but I didn't get the credit- though I was told I could subtract it from my bill. I got a generic letter. I tried talking to the "dispute" department but was told 6 times (from worldwide and us call centers) that the dept has not number- just fax and address.. so the last US rep told me that they got tons of sunrocket calls and were trying to contact the company etc.. gave me hope though I think it was just a schpeel.. my charge was a little over 90 days..

Any true success from amex (I have the blue cash card- been with them w/credit++ for over 10 years).

Not sure. I told the rep. that SR just closed up shop and took off, no way to contact, etc. I had a dispute with SR last year as well (incorrect billing, imagine that) and for that instance, I did have to submit forms, etc. I doubt that has anything to do with now, but maybe. So far, Citibank sent me the email saying thanks for giving us all the information we need. Last year, when I dealt with it, they sent me an email telling me to fill out the forms and mail it in.

I called up my Discover card customer service. They were very helpful and said they'd credit my account, even though it posted back on 2/27/07. They gave me a case number and said that when Sunrocket prorates my use they'll charge me for that.
