Can you tell me what "porting my number" means. As a customer of SR (well actually my college daughter) what should she do now, she has no phone service. Will someone help us understand what we can do. thanks, I already disputed the charge..but, now she needs phone service. thanks I meant signing up for a new service and requesting that they take or "port" my current phone number from Sunrocket. This way my new service rings with the same number I've always had. THANK YOU !! |

| reply to ct9a gosh it was so simple to dispute and get refund credit back for sunrocket. although i didn't get the full amount as some others...i did manage to get back 15 months since i already had used up 8 months (started in 10/06). btw...i'm with chase. they were so accommodating and friedly.
so i'm getting back $136 or so. cool!
now i got to take time and find another provider. landline or voip? tough tough. |

| reply to walletless Just called Discover Card. They are so wonderful. Knew exactly why I was calling, pulled up the charge made in March, credited my account for the full amount (not pro-rated). Just asked me to hold on to any material I had regarding my account in case SunRocket needed it. Don't you just love when a credit card company works for you? |

Here is my original post:
It doesn't work that way. The credit card company files a chargeback with the merchant that SunRocket used to process the credit card transactions. The merchant is a middle-party between MC/VISA/AMEX and SunRocket.
The merchant will try to debit the bank account of SunRocket. If no money is there, and they get enough chargebacks, the merchant can sue SunRocket in court.
None of this is the problem of the customer. That's the beauty of using credit cards vs. cash/checks/debit cards.
Just dispute any and all charges. We're the lucky ones here. |

| reply to santacruzlove I also called Discover. I asked if they'd heard much about "SunRocket" and the agent just laughed. My 2 year charge was back in Sept 2006, so it was sent to the 180-day dispute department, but it was handle quickly and almost comically. I'll feel better if I get any percentage back, and it looks like I will. |

| reply to walletless Question re: the part where you state to "Login to your phone carriers account and print the call logs indicating your attempt to call sunrocket's 800 number". I made a call this evening and a call earlier this morning to the customer svc number. However, when I login and go to my acct, there is no expanded link to the phone log. I can only print the phone calls I made tonight, and not the one this morning. Do you think that will really matter?
Thanks! |

| reply to walletless Glad I paid with chase after reading everyones good experience.. the one question I would have is should I port my number away from sunrocket to (haven't decided yet) before doing the chargeback? I know theres a danger in waiting but would really hate to lose the number. |

| reply to RPeppe ok, I take it back. I talked on the phone with Amex and they agreed to open a dispute, even though it is over 60 days. I had forgotten that while billing disputes legally have to be reported within 60 days, if you purchase something in your home state, or within 100 miles of your billing address, there is no time limit because it is not technically a "billing" dispute. I live in VA, and the Sunrocket charge says "Vienna, VA." When I asked that way, Amex processed it, with a temporary credit until they investigate. |

Worst case - you lose your number but get all your money back... Best case - you get both |

If you cannot access it, thats OK... get everything you can, so if the CC company calls and tells you "We need a copy of your final invoice", you are not stuck with a dead-beat website that will not provide any information. |

| reply to walletless Thanks for the info, I am doing this right now. So can I/should I continue to use the phone if it is still working? I don't want to cancel and they cancel and I can't get my call records kwim? I basically am not using the phone and haven't used it much at all so that isn't an issue. I guess it is back to cell phone only...grrr. Oh well as long as I can get my $$ back that is what I am concerned about. Thanks again. -- Di |

| reply to ct9a Successfully disputed with a Chase debit card. I had to call the Customer Claims dept. My CS rep wasn't aware of the situation, but a quick conversation with her supervisor and I was taken care of. I got a full credit back, no paperwork or anything. Of course, since I only had the service for two weeks and my phone was non-functional, I think it made the process a bit easier. |
