Re: Help For SunRocket Users

Hello, my dad has Sunrocket, its still working. Today he signed up for Comcast. They are coming to Aug 6th, to bring a new cable modem with a phone jack in it and setup his cable telephone service.

My questions are, they told him he could only port his old number, which they know is his because its been on the Cable TV Bill for years, they could only port his old number if SunRocket is still in business. They said he could only port an active number.

When he gets cable telephone, dont they just type his phone number in a computer as being his etc. So couldnt Comcast just type in his current number, isnt that all porting is?

Comcast wanted 100 bucks to plug a phone line into his new cable modem. Couldnt he just go exchange his current Comcast Cable Modem, for one with a phone jack, plug in the phone line himself and save 100 Bucks?

Is Digital Phone Service via ComCast considered just VOIP through the cable, just like he had with SunRocket and Packet 8, since we have Comcast Internet already and TV.

Thanks, MidiVox

I don't know about comcast, but Timewarner digital phone is NOT voip phone. It's a hard line phone system and does not include voice mail. Also, it's nearly twice as expensive as a voip phone. For unlimited calls throughout the US is $40, vs a service like Packet8 that is $20 a month and includes voice mail and many more service that can be controled online. Better check into what it really is that Comcast is offering.
