Re: be careful

My experience has been very similar to folks here. The first month or so, the speeds were fine. Then I noticed the speed slowly degrade over time. After calling several times and validating my speeds were anywhere from 300mb down / 140mb up, I was told that unless it I get a speed of 130mp upload or less, they couldn't send a technician to help.

This was after hours of ridiculous customer service and diagnostics on their end (which included me doing a google search for 3rd party apps to clear my cache). Then they told me it was my firewall or antivirus - I worked 6 years at Microsoft and I promised them that the firewall was not the issue. I even pointed out that I travel with the same laptop to other locations and have no problems with speed. They still said there was nothing they could do to help other than the usual diagnostic reboots, etc. I was told I would have to pay my cancellation fee if I wanted out of the service.

So I went to their site to look at the service agreements and some things to note:

If your Internet Access Service was activated prior to March 1, 2007 and you terminate that Service for any reason or that Service is terminated by Clearwire for any violation by you of the Agreement prior to the end of the Initial Term or any Renewal Term, as applicable, you will be liable for an early termination fee of $180 or such other early termination fee as may be specified on your Order Form. If your Internet Access Service was activated on or after March 1, 2007 and you terminate that Service for any reason or that Service is terminated by Clearwire for any violation by you of the Agreement prior to the end of the Initial Term or any Renewal Term, as applicable, you will be liable for an early termination fee of $220

So I URGE anyone who feels they are receiving less than what they bargained for from ClearWire to write a complaint to the Washington Attorney General's office (as Clearwire headquarters is based out of WA).
