Typically, you can enter 911:NPANXXXXXX before your other entries in the dial plan where NPANXXXXXX equals the area code and local seven digit number of your local 911 dispatchers office -- available in local phone book or simply call your local police precinct (do not use 911 for the info call).

Then, whenever your analog phone connected to the device dials 911, the device will substitute the NPANXXXXXX (local 911 dispatcher) number and dial out to there. If you can still talk, you can ask for help.
This is obviously not for the AC211 adapter but you should be able to use the same format that I'm using for the Google411 .That is r(911)xxxxxxx where the x's are replaced with your local 911 service's direct line. Substitute this string where 911 is in the dial plan. Be a big plus if I can get this working.
Haven't tried it yet but will post back after giving it a try.

anon : Although I am not Scott, here is an answer. I was having issues with the 4.57 firmware. I followed OrygunSunset’s posted instructions a couple of pages back and enabled RFC2833 and was able to press 1 and accept incoming calls so my DTMF was working fine. I then turned it off (Switched to SIP INFO in set-out-of-bound telephone events) and only checked the last check box for Plat DTMF received via SIP INFO and my pressing 1 was still accepting the incoming calls. But then, I tried an 888 number and it would not work. It would work for a few seconds and then the Manage light on my AC-211 will start blinking and the call would drop. So, I looked for this so called 4.62 firmware and found it at »sunrocket.zefie.com/firmware.htm followed the instructions on that page and upgraded to the first linked firmware SIP v4.62.22 - LDR v4.62.22 and I did not need to change a thing. For safety, I did unplug my router so that the device never had internet but once you remove SR information, even when upgrading the firmware the settings do not appear back so the disconnect was a better safe than sorry move.

Once I went to the 4.62.22 version, the DTMF worked as reported by the folks here and now my 800 calling works like a charm.

I urge all AC-211-SR owners to just get to the 4.62 firmware linked above and be happy. The Admin passwords will NOT change (that was my big worry). Just remember it takes a while to upgrade the two firmwares (LDR and SIP) and each time you do have to reboot but its been a couple of hours and my phone works just fine on the AC-211.

Lastly, what the above rambling means is that you do NOT have to follow OrygunSunset’s settings if you are on 4.62 as now, I am on the same settings posted by surveyganga a page before OrygunSunset’s post and I do not have any issues.

Enjoy.

said by chandra :

Hi Scott,

I have the 4.57 version of the firmware on my AC-211-SR.
redshift : Before you start depending on FWD I'm not sure if any of you are aware that FWD might start charging a monthly fee, here is an email I received from them:

________________________________________________

Hi,

I want to address the most common question arising from the FWD relaunch announcement last week. What does FWD do that warrants someone choosing the $30 paid membership option? The 30,000 or so heavy users of FWD represent only 5% of the total registrations, so there exist plenty of casual users that have not explored all the functions of FWD.

The five use scenarios attached below illustrate how people use FWD, but I also want to characterize what FWD is not.

FWD does not seek to operate as a stand-alone service provider analogous to the usual notion of a telephone company. We do not compete in a direct sense with AT&T, DTAG, or other incumbents. FWD provides self help tools and information for people unhappy with the options offered by the telco's, but users will not find any FWD services that provide direct replacements traditional services. FWD seeks to reduce our dependence on the traditional telephone network, so we only reluctantly pursue interconnection with the PSTN.

FWD seeks to champion and educate people about the emerging IP communications ecosystem. Membership does not preclude using any or all of the offers from companies like Skype, Vonage, or PhoneGnome. FWD wants to help members find the latest and greatest cool new communication products. In particular, FWD provides a means to register and use the growing stream of IP voice/video enabled equipment and consumer electronics devices.

The arrival of the Internet expands communication options, but more choice means more complexity. FWD provides a knowledgebase, forums (and soon wiki's) where members can help each other navigate this complexity. These tools will prove sufficient mainly for people willing to "get their hands dirty." The reward for overcoming the challenges comes in the form of billing system free communication.

I am grateful for the overwhelming response to the relaunch of FWD.
anon : Gizmoproject is not the only way to do this.
I currently have unlocked my AC-211 and have it working with voxalot.com. That is another free SIP provider. Then I set up an account with ipkall.com. IPKall provides free DIDs (inbound PSTN phone numbers) that forward to SIP. Then I forwarded my GrandCentral number to my IPKall number. This gives me free inbound calls when people dial either the IPKall number or the GrandCentral number. I also have free voicemail that notifies me via email from GrandCentral, IPKall, and voxalot. Since I mainly used my sunrocket account as a fancy voicemail account anyway, I'm pretty well set. If I decide to make outbound calls I setup another (or many) SIP provider for that.

This page is also a worthwhile read:
»faq.sipbroker.com/tiki-index.php···DIY+VoIP
