How exactly teleblend can provide uninterrupted service without buying all equipemnt, retaining IP addresses and possibly rehiring back original people who maintained it.

I don't know, but I plan to check it out.

This is also the first official word from Sunrocket on this entire matter. I posted the entire email headers, just so others could see.

Well, just for grins, I signed up for a month using a virtual CC. The $12.95 just might be worth it for the laughs.

It'll be interesting to see how they update the SR MTA, assuming they don't have physical access to the old SR server and registration system.

I too signed up. They must have access to "something" as when I put in my phone number, it had all my information, like name, address, etc. I don't know how secure that is, frankly, if you know someone is with sunrocket, and you know their phone number, now you can BE them, more or less.

They might have some backend security, to keep someone from doing that, but for sure you can get someones name and address from the phone number.

Will keep everyone posted, on how it goes, etc.

I had a prepaid Visa card that I used that will be down to 0 by the time the next billing cycle comes around. If nothing else, it will be buy me some time while I wait for my new service to get shipped and setup (and the number ported over).

Bad move by packet 8. Oh yeah, I want to sign up with a service, from a recommendation, from a company that just screwed me over.

Not knowing much about what really happened to SunRocket, or the real motives behind it having to shutdown, I don't feel like I can say they screwed me over.

Frankly, I am glad they sent out the emails, now people who aren't as tech savvy as some of us, and who maybe got SunRocket due to an advertisement on TV, will have some options, and be able to keep their phone service with little to no downtime.

This is how I feel about the whole thing, and this is only my opinion.

not screwed over.... I PAID for two years service and didn't get it. I don't care what the circumstances are. What would you call it? gatorkram - I am not attacking you!!!

I understand you might feel differently than I about the whole situation, as I have always been paying month to month.

Thank you for the clarification about not attacking me, and surely I am not attacking you.

Ya, to gatorkram,

Just in case you didn't know I'll inform you that by definition, yes, you (all of us) were SCREWED!!

It's the *way* they did it. Speaking w/ Verizon Voicewing folks, they were just still in awe at what SR did. I called it "unprecedented" and they called it "unbelievable", though I'd guess that someone like Verizon doesn't have to worry about cash problems!

All of these startups, independents, etc. etc. will not be seeing a dime of my money any time soon.

Maybe I was screwed, but I don't feel like I was.

Several different times in my life, I have been in different "ventures" that involved other peoples money. Several times, I had to "stop" these "ventures" with little to no notice to the people who might be affected by my actions.

Sometimes, there is no good way to "end" something.

I am sure people who paid for a year of service, and only got several months feel very different about the situation than I do. I was billed for this month of service on the 5th, and obviously I don't expect my service will be working until then, although now that I "switched" to this other company, who makes it sound like they can pick my service right back up where Sunrocket left it, I might not even experience a total loss. And no, I don't feel a need to dispute the charges with my credit card company.

Maybe I am just stupid, or maybe due to my unique life experiences, I can relate somewhat to this whole thing.

Surely everyone is free to feel how they wish, and I choose not to feel screwed. Maybe if I had first hand information from the powers to be at Sunrocket, that they did this all with malice, and forethought, I too would feel differently.

I doubt everyone involved with SunRocket, set out to fail, and rob, or otherwise cheat everyone who signed up. Maybe some did, maybe they all did, but I doubt it, and this is why, in the end, I don't feel cheated.

Thanks for reading..

I don't care about the *way* they did it. They could have sent me a lollipop first. I paid for two years and they did not give me what I paid for. It's as simple as that. I pay the lawn guy to do my lawn. I prepay him. I come home and half the lawn is done. Now the lawn guy tells me, I'm closing up shop, but you can go to my friend, he does a great job - does any of this infuriate anyone, or am I just being a baby?

I Google'd "myteleblend" and found only one listing - an interesting observation on the GizmoPasswords Blog »gizmopasswords.blogspot.com/2007···ice.html

I wouldn't sign-up with a company that just started business a few days ago.

If they are out of money, and can't keep the doors open, what do you expect them to do?

I fully understand your feelings, and I agree you have a right to be upset. Anyone who pays for something, and then isn't happy with what they got, surely has a right to be upset about it.

All I am saying, is for me, and my situation, I am not all that upset, I don't feel screwed, etc.

I did sign up, and frankly, I am not all that worried about it. If it turns out to suck, or otherwise not make me happy, I will find someone else who does.

As for not using a company that just started yesterday, or a few days ago, or what-have-you, well, someone has to be those people, or no company would survive. I guess I am saying, I don't mind being those people.

I think that email was a marketing email from teleblend and not from SR, since 8x8 is not going to support SR takeover.

Well, you're not being a baby, but it's not exactly like that. Remember, the lawn guy could do NONE of your lawn & you're pretty much screwed.

Same w/ SR. I got about a full year out of them & I was happy with the service. The rest was gravy, but I knew there was no guarantee.

It's like Whimpy used to say........"I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!". (In this case it was SR & $$$ for VOIP).

There's no federal bailout for 'lawn guys' and likewise 'Sunrocket', though per the FCC thread I started, I'd guess they were riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight on the fence top!

If/when something like this happens to Vonage, I'd suspect we might see a Fed intervention just due to the sheer # of subscribers.

I don't know who truly sent the email, but looking at the email headers, it looks as if they used the SR servers.

But I agree, it could be from anyone who has access.

At least they claim to be SR
