[speed/latency] Slow Download/Upload....awful ping

Seems like verzion dsl likes to have a mind of it's own. Recently my ping has went from an average steady 40-50 to the 150-250 range. My download speeds also seem to be dropping constantly whenever they feel like it. Advertised 1.5 mbps line is getting around 600-800 kbps range. Upload also significantly dropped a bit.

Anyone else in the Pittsburgh area receiving any problems?

Yes, I get the same issue on my 3.0 Mbps subscription just north of you, in the Buffalo area. Recently, my connection has been dropping to sub-V.90 speeds (as measured by infospeed.verizon.net) for no apparent reason, despite the high speeds my modem reports (in excess of 2.5 Mbps).

Unfortunately, I do not have a solution for you. I've given up on Verizon technical support by this time.

Post your modem stats as well as a Line Quality Test.

I've been experiencing similiar download/upload speed fluctuations this morning. I have a 3MB line and the download speeds dropped into the 400-500kbps range at around 11am and fluctuated from there for an hour before returning to normal. Upload speeds were also cut in half during this time and at this hour, is still acting a little wonky.

@verizon.net
You are not alone. Consider that 400-500kbps a bless. Right now it takes my google page about 5 seconds to load (normally shows up in a blink) speed test shows 100kbps download and 50kbps upload
