Keep Macbook Pro on 16 hours a day??

Is it ok to do that? or should not be??
I wanted to use my MBP as my main desktop and keep on it a lot but I don't want to screw it up

Always on here as well unless there's a crash (fricken weak batteries!) or an update. I just put it to sleep.

i think any properly fuctioning laptop will be fine to always run, you will just sometimes here a fan kick on as it hits the proper thermal point.

Every notebook I've ever had has been on 24x7, going back to the original clamshell iBook. I just shut the lid and put it in my bag, never have any issues. I'd die if I had to sit through startup every time I used it. Instant-on from sleep is great.

We have an iBook G4 in the house that's only off when in a bag for transport.

That's likely what I'll be doing with my MBP, too — we'll see what happens, though.
It's mainly because I don't want to wait for it to boot up in the morning. Strange, because I have no problem waiting the several minutes my old Dell at work takes to boot every morning.
