Electronic Box now providing Cable Services

Hi folks, we have been very busy lately but here are some very good news. We are now offering our own Cable service using Videotron cable technology. Electronic Box is now providing a 7.0 Mbits / 820 Kbits service in the area of Montreal, Laval and on the South Shore.

No blocked ports, unlimited download available and no throttle. Our SpeedPhone VoIP service can be bundled without the need to spend extra money on a dryloop.

Hi Quake110, nothing with Rogers yet. We plan to expand our network coverage with videotron by the end of 2007.

Hey Diskace...

I'm just curious.. do Videotron handoff their connections to you via layer2 from their CMTS where you serve DHCP to your clients?

Take care!

Hey Diskace,

You'd do very well in Ontario with a service like that. Our only cable alternative to Rogers is 3Web and they really suck.

Good luck.

He didn't mention any price.. heh they must be over B2B2C's price but 7mbits unlimited anything under ~55$/m would be nice since Videotron's unlimited plan is the Extreme at 64.90$/m.

Eus: Yes where cable technology is available, so pretty much everywhere on the island of Montreal. I will post a tool on the website during the week-end to lookup availability. I checked for your location and the service is available.

pstewart: i must admit i don't have this information right now. I will verify with my engineer and get back to you on this one.

We are working to be able to route subnets on our cable customers. Should have some news monday about this.

nyt, according to b2b2c.ca's website: "Included transfer : 20Gb/m (down) 10Gb/m (up)"

And that's for the Turbo Cable: 7Mbs (down) 820kbs (up)

Videotron decides of the cap.. overage 30$ max, like their retail counterpart. That's why I said 'rate+30' about 3Men@ElectronicBox offering

like nyt stated, videotron decide on the 'bandwidth policy', it is not working exactly like with DSL

The rates are 39,95$/month for the 20G / 10 G and we have an unlimited version for 64,95$/month or 30$ maximum of extra GB usage if you go with the cap version.

accusync: your zip code ?

At videotron, the 10/20 cap version is the indeed the 7Mbits/820kbits line but the unlimited version they sell at $64.95 is the Extreme at 10Mbits/900kbits. Will you be offering 10Mbits lines as well?

Do you offer fixed IPs on cable?

What about existing customers who'd like to switch to cable?

Hi guys,

of course static ips are going to be available in a very near future. And no blocked ports and no throttle indeed.

schlouf what kind of information would you like to have regarding existing customers who'd like to switch ?

For the moment the only speed we provide is the 7M with a cap or unlimited.

Best regards, DiskACE

How is the service different than Videotron for other than the no blocked ports?

What's the routing like?

Is it offered in Gatineau

When referring to existing customers I was thinking of stuff like retaining existing conditions with respect to contracts, keeping fixed IP when migrating, possible deals for cable modem purchase (or is it going to be offered for free a bit like with Videotron?), downtimes, possible discounts for longtime customers to compensate for extra expenses incurred, and anything else that existing customers would like to know ;O)
