Re: Electronic Box now providing Cable Services

Hi there,

I was wondering whether the Electronic box internet service is available for all customers with Videotron cable (south shore) and if so whether you still offer unlimited bandwidth after Videotron has imposed his 100 GB cap on its extreme highspeed service.

Thanks

Ps.: if two times yes I will be glad to pay for your service

We can set you up a lan extension @ 10 Mbits if you are in Montreal and need more than 820 Kbits upstream.

Cheers, DiskACE
And how much would this cost?

Hey monteverdi, the service is available to all customers that already has videotron services. If you are transfering the install is also really cheaper (25$ vs 90$) than a fresh new install. The extreme (10 Mbits) is not offered, only the 7 Mbits Unlimited.

Let me know if you need more informations.

Rickkins: Yes, SpeedPhone (14,95$/month) on top of your cable services. You will have to buy an ATA in order to use SpeedPhone services. We recommand the sipura SPA-1001 or our corded sip phones.

cr1ms0r: between 800 and 1300$/month :S

If it support sip, it will work. No problems with that. They are not locking their unit ?

Hi diskace,

Is there a link to the cable service on the Ebox website?

I looked but I can't find it anywhere. Unless of course I'm totally blind

Thanks!

Hi diskace,

could you give me some more informations about pricing, and how to switch to ebox (maybe your contact information). I'm definitely cancelling Videotrons extreme high speed, not really because I think that I would exceed the 100 GB limit but to protest against their policy (introducing limits which can lead to uncapped additional costs but maintaining the original high price for the now lower service). I was thinking about Bell but would rather go with ebox if comparable and more convenient.
Thanks !

Hey gnusmas, this offer is currently not official so the website is not updated. We are offering the service to a limited number of customers. This is kind of our 'beta' phase before offering to all our customers via the website.

Monteverdi, good news ! You can PM me or email me the date your contract is ending with Videotron. Pricing is 64,95$/month for our unlimited 7M SpeedCable no contract. I assume you are not interested in the capped version

Call me today, i will be at the office starting 13h00. Ask Jean-Philippe.

Best regards, DiskACE

Actually, my contract is ending the day I find me a new ISP (at least until September 13, when my 30 days cancellation period with videotron ends).
I'm going to give you a call this afternoon. Should I call the Montreal or Sherbrooke number or it doesn't matter ?

Cheers

I think they do lock it.
How about this one...seems to me like it would work.

According to it's datasheet, it supports sip v2.
These are $20 on fleabay.

Also, your webpage says nothing about keeping your old number.
Am I missing something..??

Hey rickkins, we are selling the pap-2t. They are the new SPA-2001 version.

If someone would like to transfer a phone number we can place a LNP order. There is a 55$ fee charged by our provider that we pass on directly to our customer for the LNP. The LNP can be done only in Rate Center where we have T1 lines.

Currently: Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto

Hi folks, just a quick update on the situation.

We are already out of stock of cable modems. We didn't expected to sale that much since it was only advertised here and there.

We should have them back in stock very soon with our recent order. We apologizes for this.

Cheers, DiskACE

Hello DiskACE,

1) I'm with Videotron for Home Phone, TV and Internet. Right now, I'll only want to switch the Internet, but I'm pretty sure they'll have me keep the multifunction modem (phone + internet) so that my phone service goes uninterrupted. Is your company able to use that modem to supply me with Internet until I cancel my phone line with them in March (when my contract ends?). If that's not possible - how long do you envision it taking to receive the order of modems?
2) Do I call them to cancel my Internet and THEN deal with you guys, or do you guys cancel it for me (like the way phones and number portability works these days). Would it be easier for you guys to hook me up if you deal with Videotron directly for me - to make the switch over?

Please let me know - thanks!

Hello int, unfortunately we can't provide you internet if you keep their arris multifunctions modem for phone only. We should receive the modems around wednesday next week.

If this is a switch, allow 48 hours to move the service from them to us. You have to call them and we will match the uninstallation date for our installation.

If your number is available for portability, you might want to switch to our digital phone service. Otherwise it is always possible to provide a new phone number.

Best regards, DiskACE

Hello Rickkins, not really. We have a newsgroup feed currently but don't count on it to be there for a long time as this service is going to be discontinued by our provider. Would be better to signup with giganews or a real newsgroup provider.

Hi,
do you plan to extend your service to Sherbrooke ? (J1R 0M2 zip code)... I'm tired of Videotron, thanks.
