It is time to change my software firewall.

Mod if this is the wrong forum please move it to the correct forum.

Recently, my firewall give me warning about my own computer are scanning my network.

I am using sygate firewall. It show that my computer IP address is the Remote Host and the website IP address that I visit is the Local Host.

Is there anything I need to worry about for such information given by the firewall.

Any suggestion or information will be appreciated. Thank you.

If you are using proxy then all the data an flow through proxy. Sygate has a known proxy leak that has not been fixed prior to it's total annihilation by symantec.

Ok, thank you. I read about sygate firewall having this problem but I just do not understand what is the leak about.

My ISP use a transparent proxy I think.

Time to search for a new firewall.

Comodo is the best free option out there.

Anyway, are you behind a router?

No,no you misunderstood me, it's a proxy AT YOUR COMPUTER that makes a difference...like Privoxy etc. IF you are not using PROXY AT YOUR COMPUTER, IE, OPTIONS, PROXYIP:8080 etc then you are fine. Your ISP proxy does not affect you, unless you have to setup the PRoxy IP and port into your IE or FF in order to access the web.

If you are using a router Windows default firewall is more than good enough unless you have the bad habit on clicking on anything and surfing everywhere.

Anyway software firewalls are snake oil. Recently several trojans sneaked in my system, which I got from using this free web-based proxy server (»https://www.scoobidoo.net/), and one of them managed to completely disable Comodo firewall.

They are good for nothing.

Note: Be careful which proxy server you log in to as many of them are booby-trapped. If you don't use them, don't worry then.

I try not to use public proxy as I read from others that there might be security risk.

Even by visiting well known safe website, you can be infected also which was reported during the SuperBowl this year and some financial website which was infected for a short time. (I read it from the news)
