The biggest competition in CT served by AT&T is u-verse with an ultra package boasting 6mbps download speed!<br><br>I don't think the CV speeds are driven by FIOS.  They offered 10/1 speeds long before FIOS was on the radar screen and the competition was 3/384 DSL.<br><br>They have maintained price while continually increasing speed.  It looks like they may have stopped capping upload, or changed their parameters.  I've been uploading torrents at 1.5mbps for 24 hours.  No cap.<br><SMALL>--<br>NOTHING justifies terrorism. My speeds were fixed but now its been a few days of  slow speeds again. The downstream channel has a downstream bandwidth, when using 256 QAM, of about 38mbps. A node can have more or less then one downstream channel.(By less, I mean, it could actually share the downstream channel with another node.) Until DOCSIS 3.0 is deployed a modem can only use 1 channel. So your limit for a modem is 38mbps and the limit for all the users on the channel is about 38mbps.<br><br>A node on a 850MHz system can, above 50MHz, have about 130 channels that are 6 MHz in width. Most will be used for either analog or digital video. These settings are not automatic but need to be reloaded at handshake time. I am not saying that they are not going to roll out a higher BOOST Speed but only that when/if they do you will not see it without doing a reboot. The only time that I think it will automatic update is when they push new microcode, do a node split or cap you (all of what trigger a automatic reboot and thus a reload of the settings).]]></description>

Seemed download speed dropped to 1.20MB/sec and hasn't moved since.<br><br>I was messing with the OOL FTP test and got 1.20 MB/sec, but obviously that's still a little ways under the cap.  So, the bump did nothing for me.<br><br>FYI, the phone line was layed at the same time, and we have a noticeable hum on it, but Verizon doesn't want to do anything about it...so I would imagine the line quality down the road could be better.]]></description>

The best way to find out what you are provisioned at is to ask the modem by running DOCSDIAG/ This will report what your provisioned up and down speeds are set to.]]></description>
