Re: Anyone Use MagicJack?

If anyone is still following this thread, please be advised of the following: I returned my MJ within the time frame but my credit card still got billed $46.90. I made the mistake of returning the product without using delivery confirmation. Advice: get delivery confirmation or else you have no proof!

The return instructions on their site say to get an RMA number. However, the email instructions they gave me on 3/1/08 at 1:24 PM differ:
quote:
Dear Customer,

Thank You for trying our product. To help ensure fast and accurate processing of your return, please write the sales order number on the outside of the return package along with your magicJack in its original packaging. Please send the returned item to:

Sales Order: 229-36444508
magicJack LP
PO Box 6846
West Palm Beach, FL 33405

Your order will be refunded upon our receipt of the merchandise

Sincerely,
magicJack Returns
Then, on 3/18/08 at 5:17 PM I got an email titled "Cash Refund magicJack LP: #1892" Here is the content of that email, excuse the formatting

quote:

Subtotal 39.95
Shipping Cost (4-10 days - No Tracking) 6.95
Total $46.90
I have been on the billing chat with them 3 separate times. Each time they say they're going to escalate my request to the billing department. To this day, my refund has not been issued nor has my problem been addressed by magicJack.

I'm documenting my contact with this company in an effort to get my refund, minus the shipping costs. I'm almost certain MJ can look at their network data records and see my MJ phone number is not being used and was only used a few times at the beginning of March.

Please be aware of my circumstance when doing business with this company! Most important of all, get delivery confirmation!

Re: Anyone Use MagicJack? I LOVE MAJICJACK.

I have been using magicjack for 2 months everyday for many hours a day. I would not use this as a primary phone for a residence or business. However I LOVE the magicjack it is going to save me hundreds and maybe thousands of dollars. I have registered the magic jack as a 954 area code. I gave it to my Fiancée in Colombia. She can call me any time from Medellin. For the amount of money I am saving, I will tolerate the little worse than cellular quality voice reception (at times) and the occasional software slowness (on the pc) problems. My Fiancée has minimal pc trouble-shooting skills and can operate this device with no problems. I recommend this device for anyone with a patience to deal with an emerging technology. I LOVE MAJICJACK.

Yep, and you will probably continue to love MagicJack, until the time comes when you try to stop them some day from charging your credit card automatically, with no way to talk to anyone who has any clue whatsoever as to what's going on over there. (And of course, no way at all to remove your credit card information from their database).
In the mean time, keep your fingers crossed that they don't eventually go out of business....or conveiniently file for bankruptcy some day.

Or course, providing you can use Magic Jack for the next several years (or maybe the rest of your life), and they can somehow get their act together as far as customer service (or at the very least, provide a contact phone number where you can call to resolve any problems), then you might just enjoy it without spending endless hours on the phone with your credit card company, disputing charges.

However it turns out, the very best of luck to you.

Re: Anyone Use MagicJack?

Well, after not hearing from a company representative yesterday I decided to step it up. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and encourage anyone else having refund issues to contact the FTC as well (»www.ftc.gov). The online form on their website is under the Consumer Protection > File a Complaint tab. If they receive enough complaints they will look at the matter a bit closer.

You may also want to try file a complain on your local Better Business Bureau. As with your $$$, I am sure you can escalate this with your Credit Card company to get your full refund. Good luck.

The service has been down the better part of the last 3 days with only a few hours in between where it worked. Their tech people call it "upgrading". What a joke. This service sucks.

SMCinAZ,

Yes Three days of poop service and not even an email to their subscribers is pretty lame.

If you are going to make waves, the credit card people can hurt MJ but the Better Business Bureau IMHO is a total waste of time. Companies pay to join and the BBB has no teeth. Whereas the Credit Card people have the ability to really hurt them (if they choose to).
