1 edit | SunSockets Office in Vienna, Virginia - photos
Went to visit SunRocket tonight.
That place must have cost a fortune to rent!
Interested in seeing my pictures of my journey. I could only get into the elevator lobby of the 3rd floor at around 8:30 pm on Friday July 20, 2007. But Sunrocket had the entire 3rd floor.

1 edit | reply to eabolden Okay, I said I would go by the SunRocket office and I did. It was about 8:30 pm on Friday July 20, 2007.
I was able to get into the building. I took a picture of the occupant listing which is posted.
One of their co-occupants is that little blue box company, Tiffany's. This is in Vienna, Virginia right across the street from Tyson's Corner Mall. Probably one of the top 5 most expensive real estate areas in the Washington DC Metro Area.
On the first try, I was not able to access the 3rd floor via the elevator since it has a passkey, but I was able to go up to the 5th floor. and the door opened. There was a guy walking past the elevator and he looked at me funny since I did not get off. Then the elevator door closed, I continually hit the 3rd floor button but it never lit up but the door did open. A youngish mid-20's guy in Khakis and a button down shirt got into the elevator, I got off. There are two glass doors on either side of the elevator lobby.
No one besides the one cleaning crew woman for the building appeared to be there.
So, I started taking pictures. In the reception area you can see the "OUT OF BUSINESS" sign on the windows. Behind the reception desk there was still a phone and I saw 2 Dell LCD monitors. I could not see if they were hooked to anything, plus 4 waiting chairs. Otherwise th reception area was barren. I could barely see into a back office and it looked like a printer was in one (in middle of reception the middle door that is like a thin opening due to camera angle) but I really could not see much else.
On the other side of the elevator lobby was a frosted glass door with some clear glass lines. I took pictures through those lines. All I could see was huge bags of trash. SunRocket banners balled up and more crap.
SunRocket had the entire floor in the building.
I spoke to the cleaning woman, though not well since I do not speak Spanish, unfortunately. She said they are all gone. Apparently, she was also a customer, she said nothing was really in there. I did not want to press my luck at trespassing or get her in trouble, so I did not bother to ask if I could take a peek inside the doors. All doors on the floor were locked.

| reply to eabolden Thanks for upsizing the pics. (I simply joined, no biggie and I dunno about hosting pics here.
If you want a generic upload, just use www.imageshack.us and you can cut/paste the links here.
As for those offices.........dayum!!! I can't imagine those were cheap. And REGARDLESS of what the rent was on a place like that, you CERTAINLY don't rent over your head w/ a startup VOIP like SR. That was truly foolish!!
One thing I do like is that we're able to physically get to these places. Due to the interconnectivity of the internet, when you burn a couple hundred thousand folks like this, they just might get together & DO something about it!! (Anybody want some office chairs & telephones?) |

| reply to sandwidth I did figure out how to post images it is quite easy.
In the reply or post type the following for say like 5 pictures. (I am going to spell attachment as ATT in the example so it does not ask me to actual put some in) [att=1] [att=2] [att=3] [att=4] [att=5]
then when you hit the "preview/attach" button it will ask you for the first 4 attachments. Enter the attachment filename and hit upload. You can only upload 4 at a time but then it will ask for the next 4 and so on.

| reply to gatorkram Wish I would have know I could have snagged that sign no problem.
I thought I had taken pictures of the balled up big (like 3 by 9 feet) yellow banners saying SunRocket in the room with all those trash bags. Bit I didn't.
I thought I had my digital camera on me but only had my cell phone so pictures we not as good as they could have been.
I am game to trying to go back! |

| Wow...no wonder they went out of business. That area has the most EXPENSIVE rents in Northern Virginia. Approx $50/100 sqft depending on view/etc. I'm going to head there and try to see pick up some stuff. They took $100 of mine so I'll try and get it back
Wow |
