| reply to lastingstar I signed up with voip.com this afternoon, total charges $199. Within minutes I had an email with a new number (old number from Sunrocket will be ported.) In another couple of minutes I logged on and downloaded their Softphone application and was up and running making calls via computer. Total time from completing order to being able to make calls was about 10 minutes. The ATA will arrive whenever but I can wait as long as I can make and receive calls via my computer. Voicemail, call waiting, caller id, speed dial are all working and all calls are being logged. Voice quality is ok but can't make a judgement since I using the computer speakers and a mike and do get a slight echo.
Just received an email that Sunrocket service will stop no later than 8/5 (still working as of now.) |

| reply to lastingstar I might add that I originally signed up with Viatalk BYOD and it took over a week to get config info (over 3 hours waiting on phone) and then they assigned me a different area code (so I couldn't use 7 digit dialing). They could not port my number since they couldn't 'verify my address' due to their using out-of-date map databases. I abandoned them and sent in a cancel ticket. (They DID manage to bill my charge card withing 36 hours though!) |

| reply to lastingstar I just got it two weeks ago, and they had me up an running with the new "temporary" number within 5 minutes. It works great, and I received the router within three or four days. They are porting my old number from TWC digital phone, and that's taking time, but I don't mind because both the new "temp" number and the old number are working. They send frequent emails letting me know the status, and were up-front that it can take up to a month for the old number to transfer. I'm happy so far. Lots more features than TWC digital phone, including voice mail for free. Clear sound and works on all the phones in my house.
