Even with just one phone hooked up to the house wiring, I don't get caller id; though the phone does ring.<br><br>So instead, I've got MJ hooked up to a Uniden cordless system with 3 handsets.<br><br>I wonder if using a powered usb hub would help?]]></description>

Is it difficult to sign up a gateway to handle your calls? Expensive? Is magicjack hoping to give away the service and undercut everyone else and drive them out of business and sign up most of the gateways? What are they up to? I doubt I make even $20 worth, at the usual voip rates, in a year. For me, a voicestick does everything that magicjack does.<br><br>The thing about supporting it with ads seems odd to me; how many people are going to stare at the softphone display on their laptop while they are talking on the phone?<br><br>If the advertisers who pay them find that their ads are being ignored, magicjack will have to jack up their price to stay in business.]]></description>

This is probably the smoothest starting company in the VOIP world out there. They have 31 gateways already built and working. For example if the word pizza appears in your email you might see a Dominos ad.  No ones afraid to use gmail, why? because google owns it and everyone trusts google....  Google Desktop is full of spyware, adware.  Try downloading Google Earth - unless your somewhat PC savvy it takes over your machine with all this other crap.  Google now owns Grandcentral, a basically free service.  How is GC gonna make money - ads!<br><br>I realize Im starting to ramble but my point is that MagicJack has ads, so what?  As long as their not too intrusive, in my opinion its worth the trade off.  Installing a program like Kazaa - not worth the trade off.]]></description>
