Re: DGL-4300 Wireless and Counter-strike. If you are using Windows Vista, it periodically polls for nearby wireless networks, and every time it does so, there is a latency spike.
There was some patch / utility to disable that polling but I've lost the link. |

| Yes I am using Vista, I searched on google but couldn't find anything of this patch. If anyone knows about the patch & can link me I'll greatly appreciate it. |

I did some research and find that WLAN is the reason why... No one seems to know how to get internet working with WLAN disabled and people recommended a program called VAL (Vista Anti-Lag). I get less lag spikes and the lag spikes last 1-2 seconds instead of 3-4 but it's still there. |

| Well I finally got it to work. I had to install windows XP on my second drive and disable windows zero configuration in services.msc I get constant 20 ping with no lag spikes finally. However, its a pain to dual boot every time I want to play a game. Hopefully there's a permanent vista fix for this soon. Thanks for all the help & suggestions. |

| I tried Ubuntu Linux, it's not functional enough for me. I need Photoshop, 3D Max, VirtualDub, Media Encoding Programs, etc. Also a lot of games I tried it was a pain to get it to work. |

6100 or 317w ..and as such, the units need a bridged
ethernet mode and PPPoE on the DLINK router itself.

| ??? Bellsouth is my work ISP... At Home I use Comcast, and I already fixed the issue itself by using Windows XP and disabling Windows Zero Point Configuration. No more polling every 60 seconds. |

No, it's called "Vista is full of too many bells and whistles." Windows XP SP2 works fine for wireless networks and gaming. |
