I wish they would focus more on HDTV. 16 "real" HD channels on Comcast is a sad joke.
You got that right. Comcast wants an extra $7 per month for a HD cable box plus a monthly fee for HD channels. I said forget that and bought an antenna. Now I get the HD channels for free.

The only one I can't get is National Geographic HD. All of the others on Comcast are the local channels which broadcast a HD signal over the air. Virtually none of their other content (including premium channels) is available in HD.

If I didn't live in a condo with no line of site to the south I would switch to satellite.

Oh, and regarding quadruple play, I definitely wouldn't go for it. I'm not even a triple play customer. All I have from them is cable plus internet. I make almost no long distance calls so their phone service offers me no benefit or cost savings over what I use now. I also have a good rate plan on cellular service that I don't want to give up.

Where I live there are plenty of HD channels from Comcast that aren't also OTA channels, including all the premium channels. Is Plymouth, MI out in the sticks somewhere, miles from nowhere?

Comcast only charges for the HD equipment, not the HD programming.

6% of 25 million isn't that small of a take rate on Triple Play. That comes out to 1.5 million customers, and that doesn't even take into account that Triple Play isn't fully available everywhere yet. Quadruple Play might not ever be a big seller, but 3P seems to be just the right amount. When home phone and cell phone convergence takes place on a large scale, quadruple play may be a better deal to many people. Until then, the cell phone portion isn't good enough to the majority of people.

Same as cox. they rape you on the HD box over and above what the SD boxes are then say "we're giving you the programming free" which is just charging extra for the HD.

Yeah, you're right. I see what they did. They billed me for a partial month (current) plus the full fee for the next month. They were on two separate lines so I assumed they were different fees.

I misspoke about the premium channels. I'm only subscribed to the digital starter package. To get many of those channels requires subscribing to digital classic which is more expensive.

Comcast offered me a deal that I could get digital service for the same price as analog, up to 3 STBs with remote and no increase for two years. Upon further review there is a problem with my bill. They charged me $46.48 per month for Preferred Basic (analog) and now they are charging me $48.48 for Digital Starter. I'll have to give them a call to find out why I'm being charged more in spite of the promo I signed up for.
