 [X] MacBook power supply question

El Klutzo here (that would be me), has this habit of accidentally un-tethering the MagSafe from the MacBook. I do it with my feet while in the process of sitting down.

While it's no doubt prevented the laptop from obeying Newton's first law of gravity, my question is, what, if any, effect will my once-a-week clumsiness have on any of the internal parts of my MacBook?

I've done it countless times. No problems in over a year with my original MacBook.

The only thing that may happen is the cable may fray on the cable itself, near the connector. Some people here say they've gone thru 2-3 adapters a year, because of the fraying. While others like myself have had no issues, and I have yanked it out forcefully (by accident) many, many times...

So the power cord's kind of the sacrificial lamb, eh? And I'm not prematurely shortening the internal life of any of the electronics in the 'Book?

That's reassuring. Thanks, HiVolt!

Yeah, only the cord itself can break. You've got nothing to worry about. I remember the first few times I did it by accident it freaked me out, even though I knew about the connector's purpose. Nowadays when it happens I don't even think about it just plug it back in.

Just remember that the "correct" way to unplug the magsafe from your MacBook is to push down on the magsafe connector with your finger until it comes off. Don't yank on the cord/cable if you can avoid it! This will prolong the life of the "sacrificial lamb"!
