Just ordered mine . . . .

I almost sold my TiVo stock when I switched to Verizon FiOS and got the Motorola HD DVR. I thought TiVo would be demolished by this competition.

However, the Motorola DVR sucked so deeply and thoroughly that I vowed to go back to TiVo the moment the Series3 hit three bills, I thought that was going to take another year so I'm pleasantly surprised.

The value TiVo provides for their monthly fee far out strips that provided by the Verizon DVR's rental.

And don't say MythTV to me unless you've actually configured one to receive both HD and Digital cable programming AND successfully trained your family in it's use!

Jake.

Mythtv... I said it

0 - 9 channel selection, EPG navigation
Left Arrow scroll left, rewind
Right Arrow scroll right, fast forward
Up Arrow scroll up, channel change up
Down Arrow scroll down, channel change down
Select / OK / Play Select item, play
Cancel Cancel, quit playback
Menu EPG (from watching TV)edit (from playback).
Pause Pause

It's not that difficult

MythTv is going to be in trouble unless something replaces ZAP2IT guides. Zap2it is discontiuing the guide data that Myth and others are pulling for free. What good is Myth without a guide? Hope they figure it out

That's another thing, TiVo guide data is higher quality - for two weeks my HD NBC affiliates guide data was of by 30 minutes - Verizon said they could do nothing, that they had no way to pass the complaint upstream to the data providers.

TiVo had a process for fixing guide data - even if you were the only one complaining!

They have a new project »schedulesdirect.org/ with lawyers and accountants working. I'm willing to pay a few bucks a month for an metadata for my epg.

They're close to announcing a solution. If not with tribune, Gemstar-TV looks like the next possible alternative

You're in Burlington? Have you contacted VZ yet? I spoke with them yesterday and their knowledge of CableCards is limited. The woman told me that CableCards only work in TVs...sigh...

Would you mind keeping us informed on your experiences in getting cablecards from VZ?

Thanks!

30 Min Delay

I had that too when I first got FIOS in MA. Except it was CBS that was off by 30 mins and only on Mondays. Really messed up my viewing!

Since I never recorded the Class or Christine, I would get the second half of CSI:MIAMI and the first 31 minutes of the news.
