Re: Answering your questions on TeleBlend

I understand that initially folks have a lot of questions and this wasn't unexpected. Given what has happened I don't blame customers for frustration. I will continue to address the questions I can today - and the CEO of USA Telephone will be on around 3pm ET today to address some of the questions already posted on the board directly and any others that come up while he is on. I hope that works for you guys. Again, my goal is to get the dialogue going and create a channel for you folks to get answers. Doing the best I can.

Maybe Teleblend is a new company quickly put together to take advantage of SunRocket's collapse and is truly helping customers in the interim. Teleblend could also be a Sunrocket insiders scheme to shed obligations and keep the customers least likely to complain. Most probably ... it's somewhere between. In the absence of information, everyone will assume the worst. If you can explain ...

TeleBlend is a VoIP offering of USA Telephone and Unified Communications Corp. USA Telephone has been around since 1999 offering residential and small business telephone, Internet and TV service - mostly with a Northeast footprint. The CEO of USA Telephone will come on later today and can elaborate further but, to echo the remarks of a recent poster, SunRocket is gone. The executives are gone and the company is gone.

So the 'offering' is new, yes, because it was specifically designed for former SunRocket customers. But the companies behind the offering have been around and in the telecom game for a long time.

Cogdis, customers will in fact be able to port out numbers in the future. Right now, during the transition stage - I'm talking a few days, not weeks - the porting of a number out isn't possible. But again, it will be soon, just as you would port out a number for another provider.

Not sure I follow. You mean if you haven't signed up with a new provider yet but still have active "SunRocket" service?

So how about a real easy question:

IF TeleBlend is interested in serving former Sunrocket customers and is encouraging them to port their numbers as soon as possible, either to TeleBlend or to another carrier, why have they acted in such a way as to interfere with our ability to port our equipment to a new carrier by changing the passwords? For the sake of good public relations, TeleBlend should be striving to be better than Sunrocket - this type of action not only frustrates and angers customers who have already been inconvenienced once this week by Sunrocket, it also starts the relationship with TeleBlend on a an act of bad faith. Open up our Gizmo's by providing good passwords to each model as a sign of good faith. If TeleBlend is not Sunrocket, they do not own the Gizmo's nor do they have permission to modify a device within our individual networks, opening up access to the devices would be a major show of good faith and full disclosure.

Furthermore, and this exceeds the scope of the first statement, a FAQ with clear instructions on how to access the Gizmo's could always be accompanied by a clear statement of how quickly TeleBlend can transfer/restore service in comparison to trying to port to a new provider. Once again, if TeleBlend wants to be in business for more time than it takes everyone to shop for new service, we as potential customers need a greater act of good faith on TeleBlend's part than a website and business name that still reeks of "new car smell".

If the CEO cannot answer that simple request, I fail to see why anyone should consider TeleBlend as an option for more than the few days it may take to establish new service with a provider whose actual history is measured in something beyond hours or days. We all just got abused by the business decisions of Sunrocket, whose endorsement of TeleBlend was the single most damning point against them for some - it's time for TeleBlend to put forth an olive branch.

If I choose not to go with TB, which I have, then what is the outlook for porting a number now and after "the lights go out" on SunRocket service.

Ah, ok, gotcha Molavi. No, whatever porting processes are underway between SunRocket CLECs and new providers are completely separate and what I was referring to has nothing to do with that process.

That said, I'll make sure that when the CEO comes on he provides more clarity on the porting situation.

Who We Are
TeleBlend is a broadband telephone company offering VoIP phone services. We are offering former SunRocket customers new service to ensure an uninterrupted phone service and a seamless transition. While our current focus is on helping the displaced SunRocket community, we plan to offer new service to consumers & businesses in the very near future...

Who Is USA Telephone?
USA Telephone is a United Systems Access Telecom, Inc. brand privately owned and operated having 130,000 customers nationwide. United Systems Access Telecom, Inc. ("USA") is an established communications service provider dedicated to developing and operating business units that deliver low-cost voice and data services to under or inadequately served consumer markets throughout the United States. USA portfolio brands utilize its proprietary technological infrastructure, "hands-on" management expertise and ironclad operating agreements to offer wireless, internet, local, regional and long distance telephone services across the entire United States.

USA also focuses on the acquisition of young or ailing companies that show promising growth potential and has earned an impressive reputation for the successful transformation and managed growth of many troubled companies.

Members of the USA family:
AFN
USA Telephone
Nationwide interent
Close Call America

Well they must have just fell off the back of a tomato truck passing thru town with 130,000 customers. There must be something wrong because somebody posted saying that and by gum I swear it true too.

Greetings...I feel confused about my sign up with TeleBlend because it is not clear what they will be offering for those of us who want to go month-by-month but don't want an unlimited month-by-month lan. Is there an opportunity to get a lower monthly rate (as a result of limited minutes) after lets say a few months, or is the $19.95 going to be it?

Also I had initially tried to port to Packet8 but there was a problem so now I am considering Teleblend again, is there a deadline when we won't be able to port. I heard TeleBlend say there is a date when we must port or risk loosing our number. How will we be informed? Is this in writing somewhere?

Thank you.

Peace,

with our eyes on the Lord nothing shall be impossible

That's close to the question I have ... I have signed up with a new provider (not Teleblend) but the port isn't scheduled until August 8 due to a mandatory hold that my new provider requires.

How is Sherwood/Teleblend handling this kind of thing? As others have reported, many other providers claim that if the line goes dead, there will be no port.

I believe that Sherwood and/or Teleblend should be working to have some kind of concrete policy in place to allow all former SR customers to port their household numbers out within 30 business days. And properly communicate that policy.

SRBL,
Is there going to be an affiliate program offered by TB? If so, when?

Also, I have provided some constructive feedback here: »Re: Answering your questions on TeleBlend that the CEO may want to take a look at.

B - I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought I mentioned that I would try and get some quick answers yesterday and then have a executive on today to continue the dialogue.

If that is still something that would be of value to the group, please let me know.
SRBL, you know I am all for this thread, but you of course realize that we're moving in "Internet time" and once you started the Q&A it would be closely followed (and dissected in minute detail as only obsessive geeks can) by disappointed and curious Sunrocket customers. I'm telling you as honestly as I can how I think the process can go better for both sides. As before, information vacuums left dangling will be filled by speculation, rumor, and emotion.

Of course the thread has value, especially now that you've scheduled the CEO to come by. This should be very informative, both in substance and in style. The more information the CEO brings in, and the more open and rational he is in dealing with the angry horde, the better things will proceed.

Thanks for your efforts to date!

We're cool B. I wanted to get on more last night but I have a sick household and had to play doctor all night. And we are getting back to some very good questions from posters, which is what I like to see.

Do you know if the other 'recommended' provider, Packet8, has or was offered similar access to the SR infrastructure & data that TB has been granted?

Is TB doing whatever it wants with the SR infrastructure or are they coordinating their changes with any other company?

Thanks SRCorp. Well I don't work there, I run my own Communications firm and am just helping them out given my background. I really just missed everyone on the board so much I was trying to find a way to get back in here
