1 edit | [Scam] Product scams targetting businesses Here are a few samples of product scams that we've recently received. First one is from a few months ago. the last two came in last night. (their english is getting better)
basic scenario: they ask for product, settle for anything that is even close, place the order charged to credit card(s). Payments clear, product is picked up or delivered. A few weeks later charges are reversed by Credit card company because the cards were stolen or phony and the victim is left with no money, and no product.
So far all the emails trace back to Ghana. Probable locations for those involved in carrying out the scam are Florida and Toronto.
Note: while we have been targetted, we have not been a victim of this scam (I play traffic cop on internet based product requests ), I have found that in most cases sales people who have not been made "scam savvy" would fall for it in a flash.
