Microsoft → [XP Pro] Hibernation Issue - ""power policy manager unable to re

I'm getting the following error when trying to enable Hibernation in Power Options: "power policy manager unable to reserve hibernation file"

Clean, fresh (non-OEM) install of XP PRO into a Compaq Presario 2800CL laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

I have however installed Deepfreeze onto the system. I am unsure as to whether this prevents hibernation or not.

Probably. Hibernation is shaky business anyway. Problems with it on XP are far from unusual.

Do you have any CD emulation software installed such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%?

Any more information given in the Event Viewer on the error?

Is there a bios setting in power management that needs to be enables, or if the ACPI aware bios is enabled telling the OS it can do power options like suspend?
