And for new customers?

I guess they are screwed from the start or are they also able to opt out?

I ask cuz a friend of mine is moving to Comcast only country for his job in about 6 months. He doesn't currently have Comcast. I would assume you are stuck with it if you are a new customer.

 I had the same concern. I dropped Comcast a few months ago for FIOS, but would like the option of returning to them if FIOS doesn't move along a bit faster (their lame VOD is disappointing). However, if I couldn't opt-out of this silliness as a new customer, maybe I will stick with VZ!
