FAQ link: HOW TO POST IN A THREAD
Please make sure you actually have sustained speeds indicative of the 16/2 or 12/2 tier and it is not just PowerBoost before posting an availability report in this topic.
What is Blast?
Blast! is an actual speed upgrade to 16/1 or 16/2, which will be reflected in measures of actual download and upload. See the speed tiers here ---> »Comcast High Speed Internet FAQ »What are the actual Provisioned Speeds? Because of PowerBoost, you cannot demonstrate the Blast! upgrade has been received using flash and java speed tests or other tests which don't download/upload enough data to avoid giving skewed results. You can tell by measure of actual download and upload of large files, by looking at the capped speed in some modems' diagnostic pages, or by charges on your Comcast bill (if you have actually ordered the Blast! tier.)
How can I show confirmation I have the 16/2 or the 12/2 tier?
Since PowerBoost can make finding sustained speed impossible using the speed test sites, dadkins demonstrated how to find sustained download speed.
Show a screenshot of an actual download and then an upload of about 100 MB of a much larger file which demonstrates that you do have the new speeds, sustained and not just an initial burst like PowerBoost.
Show a screenshot of a letter or email you received which confirms the new speed tier is available to you in your area.
Post a screenshot of a scan of a Comcast invoice which shows you have the Blast! tier on your account. (Be sure to obscure personal identification information.)
If you have a Motorola Surfboard 5120 modem, this post will explain how to confirm you have the Blast! tier via your modem logs. Since a recent firmware update the Motorola 5100 is again showing the config filename in the modem logs. See this post. Some older Linksys modems will show the name of the config file in their diagnostic pages as well. Show us the screenshot, please. This post recaps current config file names and translates what they indicate in terms of speed caps.
Newer Linksys modems, such as Model BEFCMU10, Version 4 will show the caps on your connection. Go to the connection link via »192.168.100.1 and look at the provision rates for both downstream and upstream channels, as shown in this post. Upload a screenshot.
The various java and flash speed tests cannot confirm Blast! tier because they don't test download/upload past the bursts of PowerBoost.
Reports of availability to date: (Remember, also, if DOCSIS 3.0 is available in your area, the 16/2 and 12/2 tiers should be also. Check DOCSIS 3.0 availability reports in the first post of this topic ---> »Is the DOCSIS 3 rollout complete in your area? Post here. )

Blast! Tier Availability in Richmond, VA I have 16mbps/2000kbs blast available in Richmond, Virginia. This is not powerboost. I can upload large files (500MB or more) at over 200kb/sec.
Interestingly enough, I called Comcast last week telling them I was switching to Fios unless blast was available in my area. They told me that it wasn't available. However, a few days later I received a new cable modem config file (d11_m_sb5120_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm) and now I have blast speeds.

I should know because I am paying for it, and that is exactly the same name of the config file that I currently have.. -- Let us never forget 9/11 |

Blast Upgrade Available in Norristown, PA I signed up for a Free 6 Month Upgrade to Blast in Norristown, PA. At first I was not getting anything close to 16 Down until I switched out my Router/Switch with a new one and now I am getting 16/1 and better on the Speed tests.
FIOS is not yet available in my area, but the fiber optic cables have been pulled and can be seen all over the area.

 | No Blast yet here in South Jersey area (Erial) I called here in the South Jersey area (Erial) and still no blast. I been paying the extra $10 a month for the 8 for a few years now. I know its down the road about a mile but not around here yet. ANd I called Comcast and talked with 3 people and they can't do anything not no modem config files nothing.
Another person on the phone told me the blast is in areas that have FIOS. SO I have no FIOS around here yet but will keep an eye out for the Verizon trucks.
I know a few people that have FIOS internet and TV in Cherry Hill |

Me too: Blast available in Norristown, PA 19401 I got the letter (Blast! at no extra charge for 6 months) and called a few weeks ago. After spending probably an hour on the phone with the Comcast monkeys, they finally got it working for me.
Verizon has not put down fiber in my neighborhood yet, but I know they have in other nearby neighborhoods. I suppose I am benefiting from the upcoming competition.

I see speeds between 15.0 and 22.0 Mbps down from Giganews using all 10 connections. |
|
 | Nice Illuminated. I have been waiting patiently for similar speeds from usenet. I hope they roll out blast here at my location. However, each time they tell me it is scheduled it always seems to get postponed for exactly six weeks. I am starting to think they are full of baloney and are told to lead people on by advancing the day of inquiry by six weeks and telling customers that's when to expect Blast. |

Re: Is Blast! available in your area - Not PowerBoost Pt 2 Just a note, I mentioned a 1.5mbps upload recently.
I uploaded at 200kb for 7 hours stright it never dipped.
Not upload powerbost, but its not the 2mbps upload that some people get with 16/2 either. I have 16/1 as far as I know.. |

2 edits | If you are in Florida, that is doubtful. Is Blast! itemized on your statement? Notice the Florida reports for PowerBoost in the PowerBoost topic. Notice where the confirmed Blast! reports are coming from.
By confirmed, at this point, I mean official notice from Comcast that Blast! is now available to you. While they may have unannounced testing going on intermittently in various places, we have had no confirmed reports it is officially available in Florida. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |
