kokomodj : I hope someone can help me. Last week I made a phone call to Comcast to switch to blast. When I called them to see if they offered blast they looked it up and told me that it is available in my area. I asked them about the pricing, they told me it would be $10 more than I am paying now, and that the speed was 16/2. I told her I wanted to make the switch, she told me ok I just switched you to the higher tier service, all you have to do is restart your modem and you should have the faster speeds. I reset my modem, and everything was still the same. I called into tech support, asked them about it they told me that I am switched to the higher tier, and that there was nothing wrong with my service. I insisted that nothing has changed, and he told me to just give it time and if I still had problems call back. So 2 days latter I called back, asked them the same question again. This time they tried to send a file to my modem but every time he tried to send it he could not get it to go through. Then he told me that he is unable to send commands to my modem, and that I needed a new one. So I went out and bought a new SB5101 which is what I had before, called back into tech support. Got it added to the account. As I was talking to the lady on the phone, I asked her if I did indeed have the blast service, she told me yes, and that everything should be running fine now. I also asked her about a firmware update sense It was a new out of the box modem. She then got very hateful with me and said “ I cannot give out that info thanks for calling Comcast”. So I called in again. Long story short, this time I was given a ticket number and was told that they would have to forward my problem to a higher tech level. Also my down speeds are slower than they have ever been ever. Can someone please help me?
