Is it supposed to pop up when you hover over your own name? It's not doing it for me on Safari 2 or Firefox 2 on Mac. Other popups are working fine. |

Sure, doesn't everyone? I (or somebody) filed a bug years ago about not being able to unbuddy myself and we had quite a laugh over it. |

That worked great. I'm not my own buddy any more. |

If you are your own buddy and you have a fight with yourself, do you put yourself on ignore? |

Wouldn't people who are their own buddies be said to be suffering from schizophrenia? Or would that be just blatant egotism? |

I'm my friend, but certainly not my buddy. My dad always told me "friends are friends and pals are pals but buddies sleep together." |

Did this get changed today? I'm one who has had myself as a buddy for a couple of reasons and noticed tonight I'd disappeared from my list. Trying to make myself a buddy again failed. If you've disabled this option Please bring it back. |

Quite a few of us use it for various reasons. I've used it for testing purposes on a few occasions. |

OK, just as an example I had an extension that polled the site to see if there was an update for the updates sticky. I was unaware until I saw my name on the buddy bar that it was actually showing me as here when I wasn't. Or other times when I've had connection problems or the site has had a problem. My nic popping up on the bar let me know there was at least a connection even if the page didn't load. |

those are very specific reasons to do with your extension.
really I don't like user-written extensions that "poll". You have no idea how wasteful it is to re-generate a page every minute or whatever, for eternity. There is a firefox addon that does new topic notifications properly in a light-weight manner, thats the only approved way to access that info continuously. |

I had it set for every 30 minutes only during the night I hosted - no other time. I'd catch a couple of hours sleep, glance at the screen by my bed and if no updates go right back to sleep. If you have the name of that topic notifier that does that - especially if it doesn't show me as online I'd love to try it. I'd still like to have myself as a Buddy, though for the other reasons. |

now you got vague again, right there at the end!
The link to install the firefox notifier extension is listed at the top right of the home page if it isn't already active. |
