Hi there,
Yes I agree...getting great speeds at 1.7 Km from exchange
I see yours are much better on the DSL reports speed charts, so you must be living next door to the exchange are you?

Hi there,
Well if I remember correctly I was down as being less than 600m away from the exchange according to the online checkers. However as my line cannot follow the path of the proverbial crow it will be longer. The exchange is over a river, up a bank, through a wood and past a small housing estate.
That being said, my stats are not bad. I was on the Broadband trials with BT back in 2000 and so have a face plate on the master socket (no filters or self installs back then) The set up has always given me fast speeds on all my ISP's since BTOpenworld.
My stats when I lower my noise margin with the DMT tool are as follows.

Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,321 / 24,574
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [KB/KB]: 37.00 / 122.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 15.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 10.0 / 22.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 1.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / µ
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 481 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 21 / 155
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 112 / 13

I use this set up when I am downloading overnight and for the speed tests on here.
For normal everyday use I higher my SN margin to between 4 and 6 "the figure alters on its own though out the day"
With this number I am more sure that my Voip will work without any dropouts.

EDIT
I just noticed that you are in the North West too. I am just a few miles to the south of you.

Excellent,
I,m glad someone else is enjoying BE....I see they have some problems in the london area on the BE forums so I think they installed different technology up here in the North west exchanges because our results are so much better.
If you look at the routing to New york we ping through london and Germany sometimes only on 4 hops but mostly 6.
I online game so I have reduce my rcwn at gaming time to reduce any lag. Trouble is my gaming partners are in USA and they use a different system to UK and europe so the pings increase across the pond and I try to reduce the lag in the game by lowering the RCWN.
Enjoy your BE..If you're going to have broadband, it might as well be the best you can get eh?

Hello there, I'm in Edinburgh with an attenuation of 54dB and manage to get around 4 - 5 Meg with Be. Just wondering how AJ121 keeps a good connection with 1.5dB SNR My connection falls of the cliff if I go below 6.5dB

Like I said I only drop the noise to the lowest level for speed tests and downloads from newsgroups, torrents and large work related files.
I do not run this set up 24/7 due to the fact that my VoIP may suffer.

What I run at "normally" is setting my SN to 3 in the morning, it then drops to about 2.5 in the evenings "on its own" and during the night it will rise to 3.5/4.
At 2.5 I do not suffer from any problems with stability at all.

Having an attenuation figure of only 22 may help me here as your 54 is over twice as much as mine.

EDIT
Just wondering what results the speed test gives you on here:
»/speedtest?java=1

I fid that the New York java test gives the closest results to what my line can do in download from the USA.
Here are my results:

Here you can see how BE* stacks up in the world of ISP's
