OK.

Here is where I am at:
I am using the Buffalo firmware, it is set to DHCP and everything works. I want to use the Tomato firmware. The installation instructions SUCK.

If I read them correctly I need to change the configuration of my NIC to a static IP address and change the subnet mask and the other thing.

From there, it is just as I described above in my original post. What the hell?
