dnewman : You do need a land line from ATT. That's because we use ATT's DSL carrier signal for the last mile link between our network operations center and the customer. ATT will not provide the DSL signal without the end user having local phone service. The good news is that ATT sells a very cheap version of local phone service that is 100% compatible with all of Oplink.net's DSL products. It's called "Measured Rate" service and we have a link to it on our support page at the very bottom.

htinsomniac : Hi,

I currently have AT&T DSL Pro for $17.99, but the promotional pricing is going to end next month and jump to $24.99, so I'm looking for alternatives. I also would not mind to get rid of my landline and leave AT&T behind entirely.

If I get DSL from Oplink.net, do I still need to get a landline from somewhere else? Would I need to keep my AT&T landline, which constitutes $23 of my $44 bill?

Thank you for your help.
