RickPremium,MVM join:2001-02-06 Waterbury, CT 1 edit | I wasn't aware that Comcast was in the business of installing fiber optic cables in peoples homes.
The article also goes on to state: "I share a house with my landlord. He lives in the basement, I and my two roommates live on the first floor. "
His landlord lives in the basement? Sounds to me like it's an illegal "apartment" to begin with. The writer also says that they're "paying for the TV portion". What's going on here is that two different families are/were splitting one service. Comcast has every right to cut those wires. The guys lucky he isn't in jail instead for theft of service.
the article also says.. "Comcast told him he should upgrade to some fiber optic nonsense since he'd have to do it sooner or later in the near future."
Bullsh**...Comcast wouldn't be saying that because again..they aren't engaged in the fiber optics to the residence business.
Really BBR...you should critique these stories a bit better before piling on with the criticism yourself.
Right there are just three VERY questionable things about this story which would have certainly given me great pause in even reprinting it at all. |

I guess a company that sends murders to your house thinks they have a right to do what ever they want. Come to my house and cut my telephone wire; I'll be waiting. |

I say it's BULLSH**..because there's no way comcast would have had that response to him..because they're not even IN THE FTTH Business.
Understand? |

Just because he has an opinion different than yours he must work for them? You need some better arguments. |

I guess a company that sends murders to your house thinks they have a right to do what ever they want. Come to my house and cut my telephone wire; I'll be waiting. EXCUSE YOU! The person was a CONTRACTOR, not an actual EMPLOYEE. The difference? He was not on Comcast's payroll, so he was not subjected to the same "screening" process that Comcast uses. He would NOT have been hired if he was suspected for anything like murder. Get your facts straight. Again, this was not something that Comcast should have even touched in the first place. Comcast does NOT hook up fiber optic service in homes, PERIOD. End of story. The tech should be fired for even screwing with any equipment that is not a TV, or ethernet cable to a PC. If you use a Gigabit router, the job is in the subscribers hands when it comes to connecting the service. The system requirements for Comcast HSI is one computer with Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS 10 or greater, 1 ghz processer, and I think 256 megs of RAM, with I think 1 gig of hard drive space, and an ethernet or USB port on the PC. If you have anything else, the modem can be activated, but the techs should NOT configure the device. Sorry, but the tech was wrong for even touching the fiber optic line. -- SIPPhone/Gizmo # 17476200648 / PIMPNET Chatline / Ran by Asterisk & Slackware 10.1. |
